Have you ever wondered what it would be like if musicians came back from the dead and had the urge to get funky? Well look no further because Here Come The Mummies and they are ready to get freaky with you on their latest tour!

The Funky Pharaohs unleashed their brand of undead fun upon Orlando when they played The Plaza Live.

Consisting of multiple members, all whose identities remain under “wraps,” they are a group that know how to party and have been doing their thang for about 5000 years or around 24 undead years.

Opening the night was The Sh-Booms, a six-piece garage-soul band based in Orlando, Florida, who brought their unique mixture of horn-laced rock sprinkled with soul and funk. They even prepared a special cover of Oingo Boingo’s “Dead Man’s Party” specifically for this appearance with The Mummies, that brought the house down.

With their set complete, the stage was reset, the lights dimmed, and a palpable buzz of anticipation filled the air as fans of all ages waited for their first glimpse of Here Come The Mummies. Soon enough, there was a deafening eruption of cheers as the band paraded through the crowd in a drumline carrying drums that were illuminated with LEDs and marched onto the stage.

Known for their enigmatic personas and their unique blend of funk, soul, and rock, they wasted no time in unleashing their raucous energy upon the crowd.

Here Come the Mummies, a band shrouded in secrecy, are a group of world-class musicians who perform in full mummy costumes. But don’t let the band’s gimmick fool you; beneath those bandages lies a treasure trove of musical talent. Rumor has it that they are Grammy Award winning musicians based out of Nashville, Tennessee. They can hide their faces all they want but they can’t disguise their monstrous musicianship.

The band’s setlist was a well-curated blend of their discography to delight new fans and the die-hard followers. Classics like “Pants,” “Fenk Shui,” “Friction,” “Freak Flag,” “Threeway on the Freeway,” and “Attack Of The Weiner Man,” to name a few. There were so many great tunes that spotlighted HCTM‘s musical depth.

One of the awesome things about this band, is that they truly know how to have fun and make a show you’ll never forget. It was bombastic and full of cinematic flair. The ensemble, which is formidable, not only played superbly but engaged the audience with their spectacular showmanship. Every number was an extravaganza with the mummies dancing and swinging to the rhythm. The venue quickly morphed into a funky, party-filled dance pit, with fans of all ages shaking it like there was no tomorrow.

These guys are nothing short of amazing.

All in all, it was a night of music and mayhem that only Here Come The Mummies could deliver. If you missed it, you missed out on an energetic, funky, and irreverently good time.

Keep an eye on the Here Comes The Mummies website and social media pages to see when they may be visiting a town near you. It is a must-see event and I can’t wait for them to return to Orlando.
