After nine seasons and one hundred episodes, the beloved Australian prison drama Wentworth has come to an end. Most of the series final episode focused on the lead up to Lou Kelly’s bomb exploding, and the explosion’s aftermath.

Here are the five most important moments in Wentworth 9x10, ‘Legacy’.

1. Judy may not have been a Terrorist

During her time at Wentworth, Judy Bryant was a lot of things, including anti-establishment bordering on anarchist, a master manipulator, and a traitor to her crew. However, as it turns out, she may not have actually been a Terrorist after all.

Last episode, after learning she is to be released after her Father's lawyers found proof that she was framed, Judy has her and Lou's escape attempt called off, or so she thinks. When Judy realises that Lou actually brought the bomb's arrival forward and her release could be threatened if she is connected to it, she desperately tries to warn Ann Reynolds. However, Ann, who is now under the impression that Judy was involved in the bombing that killed her daughter, is unwilling to listen. Judy insists she was framed, but whether this is the case is unclear. Despite her many faults, Judy tried to do the right thing in the end, even if her motives her not exactly selfless.

2. The Bomb goes off.

After receiving a warning from, surprisingly, Joan, Rita is made aware that Lou's escape attempt involves a bomb coming into the Prison. After Joan fakes a fainting spell to allow Rita to give the Officers guarding H-1 the slip, she rushes to confront Lou. Unfortunately, the resulting fight leads to both Lou and Rita being slotted. Despite Rita trying to convince Lou to do the right thing and call it off, and Miles eventually delivering a warning from Rita to Governor Jackson, it is two late to stop the bomb from exploding.

Judy Bryant is killed in the blast, along with other minor characters such as Mullet Mandy and Officer Deng, and numerous background Prisoners are seriously injured, with some even losing limbs. Ruby and Boomer are also briefly trapped after being locked into their unit to protect them from Lou's crew, but thankfully, Zaina finds them and goes for help, and we later see that they have successfully escaped.

3. Joan saves Vera

Searching through the remains of the Prison, Vera stumbles across Judy Bryant's body, and soon afterwards, Ann Reynolds, frantically searching her paperwork so she can link Judy to the bomb. When Ann owns up to allowing the bomb inside the Prison, Vera is horrified, and flees. Ann pursues and tries to strangle her former friend to keep her role in the bombing hidden. However, at the last second, Joan Ferguson appears, saving Vera by snapping Ann's neck.

Joan then carries Vera to safety, and reveals that she has finally realised why her feelings toward Vera had softened. It seems, most likely, to do with baby Grace.

"A child needs her Mother."

With Vera safe, Joan disappears into the night. She remains unaccounted for at the episode's end, and Vera never reveals what she had done.

4. Rita arrests Lou

Sometime after the explosion, it is revealed that many opportunistic Prisoners are escaping into No Man's Land. Among these Prisoners is Lou Kelly. After making sure Ruby is safe, Rita sets off after Lou.

Just as Lou begins climbing the last wire fence between her and freedom, she is pulled back by Rita, who gives her a much deserved beating in return for her crimes.

"This is for Marie, this is for Ruby, and this is for me!"

When a surprised Officer Miles catches up to the pair, Rita informs her that Lou is the one responsible for the current carnage.

5. Allie's miracle/ Allie gets the phone

Having been on her way to medical at the time of the explosion, Allie remains trapped in the rubble of the H-Block, with her wheelchair unable to move over all the debris. As she abandons the chair and begins a long crawl to freedom, Allie spots the phone that has the recording Rita needs to prove she was an undercover cop. Desperate to help her friend, Allie keeps quiet as firemen pass through the wreckage, bravely giving up a chance at rescue in favour of reaching the phone. It looks like this may end tragically when when another piece of the Prison roof collapses on top of her. As Allie lays trapped beneath the rubble, she whispers the name of her dead lover, Bea Smith.

After Miles sadly informs them that H-1 is gone, Allie's cellmates believe her lost. However, much to their delight, Allie is wheeled out of the wreckage alive in the episode's final minutes, and even better, she has secured the phone for Rita and Ruby. Boomer declares Allie's survival a miracle. Allie, likely thinking of Bea, replies:

"Yeah, I think you might be right."

Farewell, Wentworth. It's been a blast!
