The tension is building fast as we head towards the thrilling conclusion of Wentworth. Will and Vera question their morals, Marie puts her safety on the line in the name of redemption, and Boomer’s hidden camera may be more important to the plot than anyone realised.

Here are the five most important moments in Wentworth 9x07, ‘Collateral’.

1. Allie frames Dr. Miller

After learning that Dr. Miller is fully aware of Joan's returned memories, Will and Vera are desperate to find an excuse to fire him. After digging into his past bears no fruit, Will and Vera share what they know with former Top Dog Allie, and offscreen, the trio hatch a plan to get him out of the way so he cannot testify at Joan's upcoming court case. When Allie's attempts to seduce Miller come to nothing, she is forced to resort to more underhanded tactics, feigning a mental breakdown in the prison shower block, and demanding to see Miller, before she attacks her own legs with a shiv.

Later, when Miller visits Allie in Medical, she plants a kiss on the Doctor, in full view of the security camera. Will and Vera confront Miller with this footage, and a fake love letter that Allie had earlier planted in his office, to attempt to force him into resigning. They later learn that this may not be as easy as they think. However, the scenes proved that though Allie is genuinely struggling with the loss of her legs, she has not lost the cunning mind that has helped her survive Wentworth so far.

2. Ann discovers interesting footage on Boomer's camera

After a humorous cat and mouse game between Boomer and the Officers over the last few episodes, Boomer's camera, which she has been hiding in the showers to film footage for Slammer.Com, is discovered after Boomer’s partner in crime, Gavin, fails to keep it hidden when sneaking it out after a conjugal visit. At first, Ann orders that the police be called on Gavin, and Boomer spend time on a restraint station.

However, while reviewing the camera’s contents, Ann discovers footage of Lou and Judy discussing their plans to bomb the prison and escape. She shows the footage to an Agent from the National Security Agency, who tells her that they need to let the pair think things are going well, as they will need to catch Judy’s contact in the act of creating the bomb in order to get proof for court. However, they don’t know of Lou’s potentially deadly changes to Judy’s plan.

Boomer, unaware the camera had even been found, is off the hook, to keep the discovery of the incriminating footage away from the inmates.

3. An unlikely alliance

Early in 'Collateral', Rita confronts Marie, wondering why she hasn't informed the Prison populace of her discovery of Rita's former identity as a cop. Marie attempts to blow Rita off, claiming she has bigger problems, but when Rita pushes the issue, Marie reluctantly informs her of her suspicions about Lou and Judy, and Lou's earlier threats against the Prison management. Rita and Marie then form a reluctant alliance to get to the bottom of the plot.

The plan is almost over before it begins when Lou accuses Marie of being a mole after Rita warns Will of the possible attack. While Marie manages to deflect the blame for a time, the plan eventually falls apart when Lou discovers Zaina’s phone, which Marie was supposed to get rid of, recording in her cell. Lou confronts Marie, but Marie is rescued by Rita, and by the end of the episode, Marie is reluctantly welcomed into H2 by Allie, Rita, and Ruby.

4. Lou punishes Joan

As mentioned in the previous entry, before the truth of Marie's deception comes out, Lou sets her sights on another inmate as the mole- Kath Maxwell, who viewers know is really Joan Ferguson. Lou sees Joan hand a note to Officer Miles requesting a session with Dr. Miller, and comes to the wrong conclusion. As punishment for the supposed indiscretion, Lou burns Joan's hand in the steam press, while Joan resists the urge to slam Lou's head against it in retaliation.

Later, Joan is upset to learn that Marie was the mole, yet still allowed her to take the punishment. This damages one of the few remaining friendships Joan had formed as 'Kath', and likely gives her one less reason to hold back The Freak.

5. Joan attempts to blackmail Will, Vera, and Jake

Throughout 'Collateral', Miller begins to realise that he may have made a mistake in believing that Joan could change. He attempts to cut off their sessions after learning that she was in fact responsible for what happened to Eve Wilder in the previous episode, and later informs her that he is being forced to resign after being framed by Will, Vera, and Allie.

Of course, The Freak can't have that. She needs Miller's testimony in court to have a chance of getting out of Wentworth. Stealing Zaina's phone from Lou, Joan logs on to Wentworth's wifi network and sends a photograph to print.. A photo of Will, Vera, and Jake standing around Ferguson's supposed grave.

In the world of Wentworth, blackmail often goes two ways.
