What does a killer look like?
My eldest son was born three months early at 28 weeks. He weighed 3 lbs 1oz. He was in the neonatal unit for 10 weeks before he was big enough and strong enough for us to bring him home. In those 10 weeks, I visited him every day, stayed with him and then, left him every night. Every morning, as soon as I awoke, I would call the nurses to see what sort of night he had. My slumber, if it came, was always restless. Nurses administered treatments to him while I was there and while I was not. I trusted them implicitly because I had to. It was incredibly hard to have my fragile baby boy cared for by strangers. But I had to believe that those nurses had his best interests at heart and would administer care with attention and forethought.

On a Tuesday afternoon, October 25th, 2022 my husband, Andrew Dearing was on his way home from work. He was driving a motorcycle. We got it about two months earlier because we couldn’t afford a reliable car. We were convinced that a newer motorcycle in good condition was safer than an old car that would require a lot of maintenance. At that time, we were 26 and 27, and we dreamt of owning a home with a fenced-in backyard for our dogs. So money was pretty tight.

A week prior, we were all hit with the news that Carlethia "Carlee" Nichole Russell, a 25-year-old nursing student from Alabama, was suddenly missing. The news actually hit all forms of social media, and I couldn't believe it. A story centering on a missing Black woman was actually getting good attention on news outlets. More on that front later, but Carlee would later be found after 50 hours, and regarding her tale, she stated that she heard a baby crying inside a van, and it was followed by a man forcing her into said van and abducting her. Carlee added that a woman was also with said man, and at some point, after being placed in another vehicle, she managed to escape through the woods and find her way home.

Many a night her hand would reach over to his side of the bed, in search of something long forgotten. Her fingers tracing the creases of the sheets only to find them crumpled and long dormant; vacant of his warmth.

My step-uncle was a criminal, but I grew to love him greatly. And then, he disappointed me greatly, breaking my teenage heart - stomping on it with his combat boots and grinding it under the toe like a finished cigarette.

The latest prestige show to tell popular culture history, “Welcome to Chippendales” sees Robert Siegel, the writer behind “Pam & Tommy,” reveal another tale of sex and crime that informs culture to this day. The show stars Kumail Nanjiani as Somen “Steve” Banerjee, who founded Chippendales in 1979. Much more salacious than how Bob Guccione built the Penthouse empire, both the show and the true story behind it features the “Chippendale murders,” when in the late 1980s and early 1990s Banerjee directed one murder and two attempted murders of former business associates he felt wronged him, namely Nick De Noia (portrayed by Murray Bartlett), Michael Fullington, and two ex-dancers.

Jeffrey Dahmer wasn’t well-liked by inmates at Columbia Correctional Facility, but he understood. After the heinous crimes he committed, Jeffrey said he would not be surprised -or upset-if someone killed him, too. Besides, growing up he was unpopular, a pretty weird kid who dissolved animal parts in acid and scared his classmates with his awkwardness.
