The biggest serial killer in Brazil, Pedro Rodrigues Filho or as he was known as “Pedrinho Matador”, justified that he committed the murders of people he considered bad. Pedrinho's criminal record contains 70 homicides, however the serial killer disputes this by saying that he has already killed more than 100 people.

Born in Santa Rita do Sapucaí, in Minas Gerais, Pedrinho was born with a crack in his skull due to kicks his father gave his mother during pregnancy during fights. The serial killer's first crime happened when he was 13 years old. He stated that he pushed his cousin into the sugarcane grinder and then chopped him with a machete.

Furthermore, a year later he killed the vice-mayor of Alfenas, also in Minas Gerais, for firing his father. At the time, Pedrinho's father worked as a guard at a local school and was accused of stealing lunches intended for students. Then, after killing the vice-mayor, the young man murdered who he believed to be the person truly responsible for the thefts, with the next victim being the school watchman.

After committing the first murders, Pedrinho fled to Mogi das Cruzes, in São Paulo, becoming known for robbing tobacco outlets and killing people related to drug trafficking. Over time, he became one of the leaders of drug trafficking in the region and continued to kill his rivals in the field.

Faced with several homicides, the serial killer became known as Pedrinho “Matador” and was only arrested in 1973, months after turning 18. Upon being arrested, he was sentenced to 128 years in prison, however, in the penitentiary system Pedrinho committed most of his known murders, including in the initial transfer to the prison where, even while handcuffed, he killed a man convicted of rape.

Upon arriving at the complex, the murders continued. According to Época magazine in 2003, Pedrinho has already killed on the street, in the cafeteria, in the cell, in the courtyard and even on the 'tram'.

While he was in prison, Pedrinho justified his 47 homicides several times, describing the victims as “people who were no good”, these being rapists and traitors, in addition to declaring that he did not accept “sluts” or “fags”, but stating that he never killed children, women and family parents.

Pedrinho also had the phrase “I am capable of killing for love” tattooed on his body, referring to having killed his fiancée's killer and six other people, leaving sixteen others injured, at the guy's wedding, and the phrase “I kill for pleasure ”.

According to an expert report by psychiatrists Antônio Andraus and Norberto Zoner Jr., Pedrinho was motivated by a “violent assertion of his own self”, and that he was affected by a “paranoid character and anti-sociality”. Criminologist Ilana Casoy described the serial killer as an “avenger”.

When Pedrinho was 20 years old, his father went to serve time in the same complex as him for murdering his wife with 21 stab wounds. Then, Pedrinho swore revenge and found his father in jail, killing him with 22 knife blows and pulling out and chewing a piece of his heart. The killer also killed an old friend, accused of killing one of his sisters, and justified it by saying “he was my friend, but I had to kill him”.

Pedrinho was released in 2007, but four years later he was convicted of crimes involving riot and false imprisonment, committed while serving his sentence, having to serve another 8 years in prison. However, he was released again in 2018, at the age of 64, after serving 42 years in prison.

Currently, Pedrinho dedicates his life to raising awareness about crime. He has a YouTube channel called “PEDRINHO EX MATADOR OFFICIAL”, where he comments on crimes and various subjects. The serial killer has also participated in podcasts, telling his story and commenting on crime in Brazil.
