We're looking into the puzzling disappearance of Trevor Deely in Dublin, Ireland, in 2000 after he attended a Christmas party. Other than the surveillance footage of him the night he vanished, there have been no clues as to where he went.

On December 7th, 2000, Trevor Deely, a 22-year-old IT specialist, went to an office Christmas party, they went that to several different places in Dublin before ending up at Buck Whaley's nightclub. On December 8th, about 3:25 a.m, Trevor left the nightclub. Normally, he would have walked to his apartment, but there was a severe rainstorm. Because of a taxi driver strike, there were no cabs available, so Trevor chose to walk the few minutes to his office, to get an umbrella.

Trevor checked his emails briefly after entering the office building, he spoke to a coworker who was working the overnight shift. Even though Trevor's coworker said he was a little tipsy, he wasn't overly intoxicated, in his opinion. At 4:03 a.m., Trevor grabbed one of the company umbrellas and exited the building to walk home. He used his cellphone around this time to call a friend and left a voicemail. The voicemail said: "‘Hi, Glen, I’ve missed you there. Just on my way home, all going good, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.’ Or words to that very effect.” His friend deleted the voicemail because he didn't think it was important, and the police never tried to retrieve it .This is the last time anyone heard from Trevor.

Later that day, Trevor didn't show up for work, but since he had been out drinking the night before, no one was alarmed. On December 11th, though, when he didn't show up for work, this raised serious concerns. Nobody heard from Trevor over the weekend, and his two roommates were on vacation. Several times throughout the weekend, his sister Michele made attempts to reach him, saying that Trevor's phone did ring at first, but later went straight to voicemail.

Trevor was officially reported missing on December 11th. Investigators began reviewing some of the CCTV footage of Trevor that night. Security cameras showed Trevor entering the office building that night at 3:34 a.m. through the gated back entrance.

On the CCTV footage a man in black who has not been identified can be seen standing near the gate since 3:05 a.m. Trevor can be seen having a brief conversation with the man in black before walking through the gate. Trevor never said anything about this talk to the coworker he met inside, who claimed that when Trevor left the building at 4:03 a.m. through the back gate. At this point the man in black was gone.

The CCTV footage shows Trevor's last official sighting at 4:14 a.m. It shows him walking past the AIB bank, and it also shows that 30 seconds later, a man in black walking past the same AIB bank heading the same direction as Trevor. No one could positively identify if this was the same person who was standing outside Trevor's office because the video was not very clear.

Despite a public plea for this man to come forward, he never did. Who was the man in black Trevor spoke to, and is it possible that the person who followed Trevor is the same person. This is unknown, and why he was outside the office building at 3 in the morning for what appears to be some reason, but what reason isn’t immediately apparent. Everything about his behavior suggests he had intent to do something, and that him staying outside after Trevor entered the office wasn't an accident. Nobody knows what Trevor and the man in black spoke about, besides Trevor and the man of course.

Trevor was caught on camera just after he crossed a bridge that overlooks the Grand Canal. A guard thoroughly searched the canal to see whether Trevor might have fallen from the bridge in the water and drowned, but neither he nor his umbrella were discovered. The guard appeared confident that if Trevor had been in the water, his body would have been found.

Trevor would have walked down the road where the U.S. Embassy is located to get home. Since Dublin welcomed President Clinton on December 12th, 2000. The secret service had searched the area thoroughly after Trevor’s disappearance to make sure it was safe for the president. If there were any signs of foul play, the secret service would have found either Trevor’s body or traces of foul play.

Again, with the Clintons in town, the area had been thoroughly cleaned and finding a damaged umbrella or broken phone isn’t uncommon after a storm. So it’s possible Trevor’s umbrella or phone were found but disposed of as part of the thorough cleaning, but we’ll never know.

If Trevor had fallen in the water, the Dodder River was the most likely where he would have fallen in, the Garda sub-aqua team searched it. They found nothing, Trevor wasn’t there. One member of the team said the water was as clear as a swimming pool. The Grand Canal and Grand Canal basin were also searched. Again they found nothing.

Large missing person signs were put up everywhere, including in places on the other side of the country, but it appears that Trevor simply vanished.

The week before Trevor disappeared, he went to Alaska. Although the details of this trip are vague, we do know that a girl was involved and that she had given him various reasons not to go but that he still went. So we have a young man who apparently wasted his time going to the other side of the world. It’s possible that when he checked his email he had received or didn't receive an email from the girl in Alaska. The easiest answer is that he tragically committed suicide. He had been drinking, it was late, he was alone, and his way home had numerous bodies of water, but the rivers and canals were thoroughly searched and there were no signs of Trevor or his body.

In August 2017, the Gardi carried out an excavation at a three-acre wooded site about 5 miles from Trevor's last known location. An informant came forward and claimed that a member of a notorious criminal family had confessed to him about beating up Trevor and stuffing him inside a car trunk before driving him to a house and threatening him at gunpoint. The suspect apparently didn't intend to kill Trevor but the gun accidentally discharged, so he buried Trevor. They found nothing, so it’s unlikely that the informant’s account was reliable.

Trevor's father made a plea for information about the disappearance in 2018. We are still no closer to finding Trevor or learning anything new about what happened the night he disappeared. Even a 100,000 euro ($108,000) has made no progress in finding out what happened to Trevor.

On December 8th, 2022, the 22nd anniversary of Trevor’s disappearance, the Gardi renewed their appeal for information. Stating "Even the smallest piece of information, which may seem insignificant, may assist the investigation."

As of 2023 Trevor is still missing, his parents still believe that one day Trevor will walk through the front door of their family home. There have been no new leads in Trevor’s disappearance.
