The Actions of Love
Two fashionably dressed men strolled into Brown's public house together continuing their discourse regarding a previous engagement both had attended. Upon entering, the outward stale air ceased and was met with a sociable atmosphere. Each looked in the other direction to find a corner where the workers of the morning weren’t, and each found nothing. ‘Here wait a moment’, told the older gentleman who was known by all as Banks. He walked over to one of the barmen and had, what seemed, a very long discussion with him after which he motioned to his friend to come over.

After The Fall
The air seemed still as if the world had somehow stopped spinning. He lay motionless in bed tightly grasping the phone as he took slow shallow breaths to contain the anxiety creeping through his body as flashes of what were supposed to have been lost memories came crashing back into existence. He spent months in therapy writing off these violent dreams as hidden psyches fighting to be brought back to life when in fact they were simply reminders of what he left behind.

Meet Dave
Dave was used to this sort of customer- the blond, middle-aged unaccompanied mom type. He knew he could make a quick sale based on her flashy handbag and oversprayed, textured hair. He saw her eyeing the latest iPhone 13. She was fiddling with the camera settings and was admiring her cakey and clunky eyelashes. He figured he would let her linger a little longer before he would smoothly interject by explaining the Christmas discount and peppering in information about an affordable family plan. He knew she would brush him off, but he would lure her in by offering a free phone with the purchase of a new phone, exclusive to this month only. The pressure of a “good deal” always convinced customers to make a decision they weren’t ready for, and Dave used this to his advantage. There is a reason he maintained the position of top salesperson in his store.

Emerald deep sea
The first time I ever saw Karla? I'll never forget how I immediately knew I had to have her in my life one way or another. It was freshman year of high school and she had just transferred to my English class. I immediately noticed that, little miss pretty eyes over there could write some mean essays. Not as good as mine, of course, but still great. Speaking of pretty eyes, to call her eyes green was an insult to the deep shade she had. The fact that I had never seen her before alone was infuriating to me.

The Monsters We Believe in
Nervously I passed through the maze of prison safety protocols followed by a security guard that could only accurately be described as hulking. As per the arrangement my agent made, I couldn’t go anywhere in the prison without being followed by this giant of a man. He was to be my shadow, silent and ever present.

Public Defender
I looked at the sunlight streaming through the blinds. Another sleepless night. I felt paralyzed. I couldn’t get out of bed. I had to meet with my client this morning, locked up on a moving violation. I forced myself to sit up. I sat thinking for a moment. How much longer can I do this? How low have I sunk?

The Deadliest Emotion
Michael still loudly proclaimed his innocence, even as he was dragged from the courtroom in handcuffs. During the six-week trial, prosecutors had proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that Michael had indeed murdered his wife, Kathleen. His fingerprints were on the knife. There was no indication of forced entry into their home. Witness testimony confirmed the vicious argument that ensued and threats Michael made against her when he found her in the restaurant with her lover. He had no alibi.
