Ronald Lyle Goldman was an American waiter who was born on July 2, 1968. Nicole Brown, the ex-wife of American football player O.J. Simpson, was friends with Ronald Goldman. He and Brown were both killed on June 12, 1994, at her home in Los Angeles, California. Simpson was found not guilty of killing them in 1995, but he was found responsible for both deaths in a civil law suit in 1997.

The Beginning

Goldman had only met Brown six weeks before they were both killed, when he borrowed her car. In the weeks before they both ended up dead, they became friends and would sometimes get together for coffee or dinner.

Simpson and Nicole were married for seven years

Their relationship was still platonic.

Simpson's marriage with Nicole Brown was filled with abuse and jealousy. After the divorce, he couldn't let go of her. He was morbidly obsessed with her, and since he couldn't have her, no one else should. He stalked her excessively,

The Brutal Murder Of Nicole and Ron

On Sunday night, June 12, 1994, Brown called to say that her mother had left her sunglasses on the table when they came to eat in the restaurant where Ron worked. The sunglasses was later found in a street gutter outside the restaurant. Ron promised to take them to her house after work.

Goldman and Brown were killed by stab wounds close to her house. A little after midnight, police found their bodies. During their re-creation of what happened, the police came to believe that he had come during or soon after Nicole's death. Goldman's family thinks that he died trying to help Brown when she was being hurt.

What Happened after their deaths

Simpson became the prime suspect after the killing

Simpson was told that he was going to be charged, but instead of going to the police, he ran. When law enforcement heard that Simpson had a gun to his own head, they followed the car slowly for more than an hour.

The popular car chase, the police can are seen following Simpson's car.

Simpson's "escape" attempt was broadcast live across the country and was seen by an estimated 95 million people. Hundreds of Simpson's fans lined the streets to show their support. At the end, Simpson was arrested at his home in Brentwood, California, and taken into police custody.

Evidence Against Simpson

When the police came to Simpson's house after he refused to pick his telephone call they found blood in the car packed in his apartment. They also found gloves with Nicole's hair and blood on it.

Since there were no witnesses to the killings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, the prosecution relied on DNA evidence as the most important piece of physical evidence to link Simpson to the crime.

108 pieces of DNA evidence, including 61 drops of blood, were shown at the trial. To prove the validity of the DNA report, testing was cross-referenced at three lab Testing was cross-referenced and validated at three separate labs.

Simpson's Trial

Simpson was put on trial for killing Brown and Goldman. In October 1995, he was found not guilty after a public trial that took almost nine months. Fred Goldman, who is Ron's father, sued Simpson in civil court in 1997. The jury decided that he was to blame for Goldman's death and gave the family of Goldman $33 million. Simpson was then sent to prison in 2008 for a separate armed robbery at a Las Vegas hotel.

Simpson was sentenced to nine years

In 2007, Simpson received a prison sentence for robbing two people in a Las Vegas hotel room of hundreds of pieces of sports memorabilia. For the crime, Simpson was sentenced to nine years in a Nevada jail.

In August 2007, the Goldman family received the rights to Simpson's book, If I Did It, a first-person description of how he would have carried out the killings had he carried them out. As part of the multi-million dollar civil jury verdict against him that they had been attempting to collect for more than ten years, they were given the revenues from the book. They also obtained the copyright, media rights, and film rights of the book.
