The story about Raphael and Ejike is one of those incidents that leave you questioning your trust in anyone. It’s hard to imagine someone waking up in the middle of the night to stab their best friend to death and run away with their property, bribing security agents in the neighborhood to help him escape. However, how he was caught is even more interesting, quite shocking, yet very satisfying. This incident happened in Anambra state in October of 2022, most likely on the 10th or 11th of October. Raphael and Ejike were said to be friends and they met in 2017.

Ejike is a businessman and the breadwinner of his family. He travels to Indonesia from time to time, and on one of his trips back from Indonesia, he met Raphael, who was working in a salon close to Ejike’s sister's salon. They formed a friendship, and over time, their friendship grew to the point that they moved in together. They moved into the same apartment together and started living as roommates. Even though Raphael most likely had his place, he came around Ejike’s place from time to time and spent time there. Even when Ejike traveled back to Indonesia, Raphael was still in his apartment, looking after the property. The neighbors in Ejike’s compound knew them to be roommates and friends. People knew them to be close, even though some people questioned their closeness, suggesting that they may be closer than we think, but not to suggest anything. That was their relationship.

However, one night, they were all sleeping around 11 pm, and they heard a scream. Someone was screaming in the compound. According to a neighbor who lived in the area, they heard the scream. It's a big compound with other tenants in it, and the landlord also lives in the compound. The landlord, among others, heard the scream and was disturbed by it. He knew someone had been hurt. The landlord was very sure that someone had been injured or killed. That's how deep his intuition was, that he came down from his house and asked neighbors if they had heard that scream. He suspected that someone had brought a girl into the house and killed her because that's what it sounded like. The neighbors were trying to understand if it was a man or a woman, but regardless of who was screaming, the landlord was not satisfied.

The landlord became the hero of the story because he wasn't just trying to satisfy himself. He made sure that everybody in the compound came out for a meeting. Around 11 or 12 midnight, he started calling everyone out, going from house to house, asking if anyone had screamed or if it was their house. Everyone had to come outside because they needed to know where the scream came from, and they were sure it came from that compound. Raphael replied from the window that he was not around and that Ejike has traveled, but they told him to come outside because they were not looking for Ejike; they were looking for the source of the scream. After a few moments, Raphael came out to join all the other tenants, and they were talking about where the noise came from. Everybody said it was not from their place, and Raphael said it was not from his place. He said he was the only one in the house because Ejike had gone somewhere.

Another neighbor was said to have come into the compound late and saw Ejike's vehicle parked outside with his bathroom slippers near the vehicle. He was surprised because it was unusual for Ejike to leave his slippers outside. The neighbor became suspicious and informed the other neighbors. They went to Raphael's room and asked him where Ejike was, but he said he didn't know. They searched the room and found bloodstains
