My Favorite Murder by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark was debuted on January 13th, 2016 and, is currently sitting at number 63 on Iheart radio's top 100 charts. Karen and Georgia are American comedians that bring a lighthearted view to both murder and mental health. With more than 250 episodes out, their own podcast network "Exactly Right" and a book called "Stay Sexy And Don't Get Murdered" that was number one for New York Times, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal Bestseller you could say they are doing more than just okay for themselves.

On a weekly schedule, Karen and Georgia share the stories that both horrify and interest them. They have covered serial killers, survival stories, and historical events that are both widely known and some that are from small towns. Although Karen and Georgia are usually the only ones that are on, they do have some special guest come on like Paul Holes who was a detective on the wildly famous Golden State Killer case along with Billy Jensen who worked with Paul and helped finish and publish the book "I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer". Paul Holes and Billy Jensen now have a podcast on the Exactly Right network called "The Murder Squad"

Other than just their weekly stories Karen and Georgia also do "minisodes". The first minisode was posted in March of 2016 and that opened a forum for Karen and Georgia to be able to not only get hometowns but any other story that the "Murderinos" wanted to share. Before they knew it, they had to go through thousands of emails making the awfully hard decisions on which ones would be read on the show. Each email usually starts the same with the murderino stating how much that Karen and Georgia have helped them and made them feel like less of an outcast then it goes into the story. At the end of their emails, a lot of them state how to "stay sexy and not get murdered" which is a catchphrase of the podcast often shortened to SSDGM. Since the first one they have done over 200 minisodes crossing all topics from murder to things in the wall and it is constantly expanding.

Now is this everyone's cup of tea? No, it's not and that is okay! If you would rather have a true-crime podcast just go over the details and not add any side conversations or humor that surrounds the horrible incident, then go for it. But for the people that have an obsession as I do, sometimes you need to hear the story with a little comedic relief before you go into the gruesome details. For their listeners, this podcast has also become a huge family. There are even Facebook groups in cities like the Queen City Murderinos (Charlotte Murderinos) who (before the pandemic) would meet at restaurants and bars. Although it might not be conventional this podcast means a lot to people and helps them work through their anxiety over dangerous situations and has helped a huge community come together.
