Kelly Harper was charged for her murder-for-hire plot in February 2021

I said this before; it amazes me that there are people in society who are willing to pay to have someone else killed. Heck, any form of homicide is hideous enough as it is, but actually paying money to have it done?! And it's never chump change, either; it's always a vast amount. That, IMHO, shows the depravity of some people, and as I also stated before, out of the number of murder-for-hire cases I've heard about in my many years as a true crime enthusiast, the culprit behind such schemes has been a woman more often than not. That, alone, is also fascinating.

A recent case occurred in the state of Wisconsin, and the mastermind was Kelly Harper, who was going through a bitter and contentious divorce from her ex-husband (who isn't named). Kelly had spent a good amount of time accusing her ex of abusing their children, but her claims were deemed false and unsubstantiated, and she faced losing custodial rights to her children if she continued making false accusations. The threat came in March of 2020, and seven months later, Kelly turned heel and plotted to have her ex-husband killed, using the dark web to orchestrate her villainous scheme.

The report stated that Kelly actually used two murder-for-hire websites; the first one she used in October of 2020 was a scam site, leading Kelly to head to a second site in two months later. She had been contacting her planned hired gun between December 3-10, 2020, and during her transaction, the villainess uttered the following:

"The target needs to be killed, he is a white 5 foot 5 male, dark brown short hair, blue eyes, weighs 165 pounds."

Regarding payment, the evil Kelly sent over $5000 in Bitcoin--$5,633.87 to be exact. That's a lot of pennies! Journalists had actually discovered the plot online by accident, and after a mysterious man was found outside the home of Kelly's ex, the journalists went to the intended victim and informed him that there was a price on his head--put out by his ex-wife. Kelly was confronted with the facts against her, and she was officially charged in February 2021. Kelly faced up to a decade in prison, but entered a plea deal and confessed, repeating her claims that her ex-husband had been abusing their children for years--and added that she had every right to protect her children. In spite of her callous defense, Kelly actually stated that she hoped her ex would forgive her, but her ex referred to Kelly as a monster who had been putting him through hell for six years.

In June 2021, Kelly received a sentence of six years in prison. I just read this story just minutes before writing about it here, and as usual, I am just amazed. I have no clue what caused Kelly to despise her husband so badly and lead her to make these accusations. I do know that Kelly's heel turn was clearly motivated by her hatred and delusions, and in all regards, this was a woman who was immensely relentless and diabolical. Even worse, Kelly truly believed she was in the right; even portraying herself as a victim as she was put on trial and admitted to her actions. Overall, Kelly Harper was a truly deranged villainess, and this true crime tale is definitely one that will keep me asking a lot of questions.
