Mom Molests Son; Dad Destroys Evidence
She said she wouldn't do it again, he said
A Missouri woman awaits trial on charges she molested her 7-year-old son, evidenced by a video and images found by the boy’s grandmother and statements that he provided to investigators about their bathtime “secret”. The woman's husband and father of the boy knew the abuse occurred but said he did not report the incident because she promised that she would never do it again. Jessica McMannamy admitted to molesting her son because she was high on meth and wanted to see what it was like.
The grandmother of a 7-year-old boy made a horrific discovery when she looked at his iPod on June 19, 2020. The woman saw what appeared to be homemade porn videos and photographs between her grandson and his mother. She immediately rushed the iPod to Camden County Police Department and told them what she discovered.
Police Launch Investigation
Police viewed the horrific videos after which they immediately launched an investigation. The investigation started with an interview with the 7-year-old boy. He told police that he and his mommy had a “secret” at bathtime. She would perform sexual acts on him and then force him to repeat the sexual acts on her.
After getting a search warrant, police searched the home of Matthew and Jessica McMannamy in Montreal, Missouri. The search revealed methamphetamine pipes covered in a “white powdery residue,” all lying out in the open within the reach of a child. Police also recovered several items related to the molestation.
Jessica Admits to Molesting Son
The boy’s mother, Jessica McMannamy, had been arrested the day prior to the discovery of the video. Police spoke with the woman while she was in jail. She admitted to molesting her son, stating she did it because she was “high on methamphetamine and curious what would happen.” She went on to tell officers that she took the videos and photos found on the boy’s iPod. Then, she said she felt like a bad mom because she took the photos and smoked meth all the time.
From jail, Jessica called her husband, Matthew, instructing him to get rid of evidence and to delete the videos and photos from the iPod. On the recorded conversation, Matthew tells Jessica that it was already deleted.
Matthew Deletes Evidence
Police asked Matthew to bring the iPod down to the station so they could examine it. He agreed but never showed up at the police department. Authorities caught up to him at the probation and parole board. They found cell phones, the iPod, and methamphetamine in his car.
Police again looked at the video. This time, the device was password protected. Once police opened the phone, all of the images and videos related to the molestation had been deleted.
Matthew was taken into custody. He admitted that he knew his wife molested their son because he found the video. He stated that he confronted Jessica after finding the video but did not report the incident to police because she promised that she would not do it again.
