God Told him to Kill the Alien

He had told authorities that he heard the voice of God and wanted to save the people from an alien attack.

This is a man who did some horrific things. When hearing and reading this story it sounded like a horror movie. To hard to believe what this man had done.

On July 30th, 2008 Vince Li sat on a Greyhound bus next to Tim Mclean. Tim was a carnival worker that had been working in Edmonton, Canada, and heading home to Winnipeg. Tim had been fast asleep on this journey home with headphones on.

Suddenly Vince pulled out a huge knife and started to stab Tim repeatedly in the neck and the chest. The bus driver then pulled the bus over so the other passengers could get off the bus and avoid getting stabbed by Vince.

Two men attempted to rescue Tim by Vince scared them back with his huge knife. After this Vince went to work on Tim's body. He decapitated and displayed the head to the passengers outside the bus. Then he began to consume some of the flesh and eyes.

This time frame has really gotten me shaken up. The police were notified at 8:30 pm of a stabbing on a greyhound bus. The only people on the bus by this point were what was left of Tim’s body and Vince's. It had taken Vince trying to climb out of a window for them to apprehend him around 1:30 am.

When he was searched the ear, nose, and tongue were found in Li’s pockets. The eyes and part of the heart were never recovered. They presumed the part of the heart went to the same place the victim's eyes went.

Vince seemed like a very happy man before this incident. He was working in Canada as a software engineer. He had gotten a bachelor's degree in Beijing. He immigrated to Canada in 2001. He became a Canadian citizen in 2006. By all accounts, he seemed like a happy man.

He had been working odd jobs to support his wife. Just before the incident he was working at Walmart but got fired because of a disagreement with another employee.

Witness Garnet Caton said that could not understand how calm he was “There was no rage or anything.” then he was just like a robot not noticing anyone else around him while stabbing Tim.

In 2009 the trial started and Vince pleading not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder. He was heard uttering for someone to kill him during the trial.

A psychiatrist took the stand and said that Vince told him he had heard voices, which he thought were the voice of God telling him to kill the demon next to him. He was sentenced to a mental health care facility and was released. First into a group home and as of 2017, he was totally free from any legal obligations or restrictions.

Vince even said he thought that Tim was an alien. As of 2009, it is said he was still hearing voices. In my opinion, he should have been watched for many years after his release on his own also not just at a group home. I guess if you murder someone you get less time than having the possibility of murdering someone. The law sure works in funny ways.

Maybe things since then with the law have gotten better. As of yesterday, a man had murdered his Grindr date and he is getting life without parole. But this man was also guilty, unlike Vince. In my eyes murder is murder and if someone has mental health issues then they need to be watched just as long as someone who is guilty of their crimes. Just my opinion. What do you think?
