This Is How You Hold Yourself Back From Getting What You Deserve

It’s natural to want to do things, to set goals, to chase them and get to experience the process of creation.

Deep within us, there is the urge to explore what we’re truly capable of accomplishing, and we express it by “playing” around with the variables we’re given.

What are those variables?

The conditions we find ourselves in, and those goals we feel “pulled” the most by — perhaps we once wanted to be a singer, or a video game designer — it’s our soul’s urge, our life’s purpose.

While we’ve all had experiences with the above, most of us rarely seem to act on those “drives”.

Perhaps we have too many responsibilities, or maybe we feel like it’s too “late”. Whatever our reason, living a meaningful life seems to be a miracle only a few of us ever get to experience.

It has unfortunately become the norm to be miserable, and some people even believe that it’s part of life. Do you believe in it too?

While we may think our profound sense of dissatisfaction comes from not having our desires “granted”, the truth is that those desires of ours simply cover up something much deeper, a truth much simpler.

We’re meant to try things, to explore possibilities, to throw ourselves boldly into the magnificent play of life.

But we feel stopped, slowed down in our trajectory, and unless we deal with it — our life feels stagnant — we feel stuck.

What stops us?

We have indeed responsibilities. Being responsible, and acting responsibly, is part of the human experience.

It’s unfortunate to see that most people only seem to have responsibilities when they need to justify why they won’t act.

Yet, underneath our feeling of responsibilities however, there is an emotional “charge,” the same one that generates all those rational reasons we identify with — the same ones that hold us back.

We have the same abilities. We are infinite possibilities. We are the embodiment of life itself.

Some of us express it by being successful financially but not in our love life.

Others of us do so by being talented in singing or painting, but not efficient at bringing it in front of people.

And some of us are the best at “selling” others’ work without being particularly skilled at anything else.

Because of this “imbalance,” we seek to master those lessons through “soul mates”, through our different relationships, and through our experiences.

This is why we push ourselves into newer and different experiences. And even if we don’t — it’s why we’re still driven to do so.

Our desires, our goals — the “lightning” we feel rising up from our guts, the dreams that haunt us — it’s through them that we learn our life lessons, and mature as souls.

No matter how much we try to deny it, we can’t shut it off. And we’ll never feel fulfilled unless we follow this “instinct.”

Take a deep breathe, and think about something you’d like to achieve. Maybe you always wanted to manifest it physically, and yet, you could never make it happen due to your doubts or by sabotaging yourself.

Let’s pay attention now.

Before you start thinking about why you couldn’t make it happen, notice the feeling of tension that precedes the thoughts in the form of reasons, excuses, stuff to do or take care of, etc.

Ignore the noise. Focus on the feeling itself. This feeling is what slows us down.

This feeling is what pushes us to rationalize our way around when it comes to bringing our visions to fruition.

This feeling creates stagnation in our lives.

Somehow, we stored this feeling in us throughout our different experiences. Some people told us we’d never be able to achieve much. Others never gave us the right example. Or maybe we just saw too much negativity in the world, and came to believe that this is how things are meant to be.

Whatever the reason behind this feeling, we must approach it, and only by getting close enough to it will its “raison d’être” be revealed.

For some it may take a few minutes, for others, a lifetime. What matters is not getting “there,” because you’ve already arrived, as long as you are conscious about its existence.

In investigating the feeling, by paying attention to it, by being fully present with it — you’ve done the work. All that’s left is to live, which you do by following your creative drives, and by enjoying your life as much as you can.
