Taboo
The Unspeakable Feminine / The One Within Us (Extended Exploration)
Let's stand alone in front of our mirror, eye to eye, and truly look at the person sleeping inside us. It’s our real nature, something we've locked away behind a heavy door deep in our secret garden, just waiting for the right locksmith to come along and open it. Women aren't any different from men here; we crave extreme sensations too, always hoping that one day we can break them free and live them out.

Notes from the Mind Palace.
Listen to Cheated Hearts. by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. There is a specific, sickening frequency to being done dirty by someone you trusted. It isn’t just a simple disagreement; it is a profound violation that completely rewrites the reality of the space you inhabit.

Red Flag Rage
Red Flags lay over the front yard; not sure as to why. The air was still. It welcomed me in with a blank smile. I shrugged it off as I met my mother, who raised me from afar for the first time. She was WARM and BRIGHT. She welcomed me into her arms, just like a long-lost daughter. I had found where I was supposed to be, maybe finding myself for the first time in years. Someone who treated me like her own, though she'd never met me before. She always called me daughter regardless.

I started taking it back door
We’ve been married seven years. I can tell you which of his t-shirts he will ruin in the wash and the exact face he makes when the Wi-Fi drops. I did not think I would be the woman who, on a random weeknight, said, “I want you to fuck me in the ass,” and then immediately wanted to take it back.

I have never wanted boys
That is the simplest way to say it, and the one my friends like least. They send me screenshots of twenty-two-year-olds with gym selfies and captions about “good vibes only.” I look at the pictures and feel nothing except a faint, embarrassed pity, like watching someone try to parallel park in a space that was never going to fit them. Their hands are still learning how to be hands. Their mouths are still practicing being mouths. I want something that has already decided what it is.

The High-Altitude Trap
My wife and I have a pretty noticeable height difference. I'm a whole foot and a half taller than her, which you'd think would just be a normal part of life. But in reality, it shows up in some pretty mundane ways, like when I reach the top shelf for pantry stuff, grab her coat from the closet, or change a lightbulb without yanking out the step stool. All pretty standard taller-spouse chores. Although it wasn't until pretty early on in our marriage that I started to catch on to a little bonus that came with being the taller partner.
