Miracle or Mistake?
I was in the fifth grade when life decided to hurl two more curveballs at me, back-to-back. At eleven years old, I received my first visit from the "Red Queen." Navigating something that not many of my classmates were experiencing made me feel even more like an outsider. The feelings cemented when I had to have my dad bring a change of clothes and pads for me one day due to an accident I had. I was still new to it, but I felt embarrassment all the same. Around the same time, I experienced something else none of my classmates had. I was in constant pain, crying often from my joints aching all over. My parents took me to a doctor, and after running multiple tests, we were told my diagnosis was JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis). I had to miss at least two weeks of school while my parents and I had to travel to a nearby state to receive the care I needed, as none of the institutions around us were equipped to do so. My parents had to carry me often and help me around the house, as the pain was so much that it took everything to bring myself to an upright position. Returning to school would prove to be a challenge, as well. I was now seen differently by classmates and teachers, too. As I returned to one of my classes, I was met with a shocking hostility. The day before I returned, the class had been disruptive. As a result, the next day when I had come back, the teacher decided to dole out the punishment she felt was necessary: writing sentences. I did not feel I should have been subjected to the punishment, as I had not even been there. My teacher, however, disagreed. She stood over me and would not leave my desk until I wrote the sentences, too. Now, I know most people would see it as nothing, just writing the same words over and over an exact number of times. For me, though, it was excruciating. I was in tremendous pain daily, especially when my joints became overworked. I was still forced to sit and write over and over, my fingers curling into a claw, tears streaming down my face, as she watched. She said I did not get a pass just because of my diagnosis.

The Melody of Life: A Dancer Jumping Between Disappointment and Hope
We must embrace limited disappointment, but we must not lose endless hope. This quote comes from Martin Luther King, Jr. The motto, in other words, is that although we have to deal with some finite frustrations, we must not lose faith in infinite hope. Well, it's like, sometimes we hit a little bump in the road, but don't forget that there are countless stars twinkling in the sky.

"It Is Myself I Have Never Met..."
"It is myself I have never met whose face is pasted on the underside of my mind." I memorized this line seven years ago and I say it to myself almost every month when that familiar bout of "otherness" passes through. Sarah Kane, a remarkable British playwright, wrote this beautiful morsel of prose in 1999—the final line of her final play 4.48 Psychosis. She died by suicide soon after finishing it.

Miracle or Mistake?
While my mother was pregnant with me in her sixth month, her gallbladder ruptured. The surgery to remove it was a success. However, it would only take a turn for something worse from there. To aid in easing her pain, my mother was put on a morphine drip. Though it did as it was intended and brought her needed relief, I was not strong enough to handle its strength. My heartbeat slowed twice, dangerously close to stopping completely, prompting immediate action to perform an emergency C-section. As I was born, doctors and nurses began working diligently to care for me.

The Day I Lost My Mother
I remember every detail of this day as if it happened yesterday. The memory of the day my world fell apart will forever be etched into my mind. Thoughts about what could have been circling my mind as I finally deal with the trauma I drowned with alcohol and drugs for years.

The earth and it fullness
In the heart of a boundless universe, a small blue and green sphere floated gracefully through the vast expanse of space. This was Earth, a planet teeming with life and wonders beyond imagination. From the towering mountains that pierced the heavens to the hidden depths of the oceans, every corner of this world held its own unique story. The sun would rise and set, painting the sky with hues of gold and pink, casting a warm embrace over the lands. Across the continents, dense forests whispered secrets to the wind, their towering trees reaching towards the heavens, while vibrant flowers carpeted the ground in a riot of colors, like a canvas of nature's artistry. In the heart of the wilderness, predators prowled and prey darted, a delicate balance of life and survival playing out in a timeless dance. The oceans, vast and mysterious, were home to a symphony of life beneath the waves. Majestic whales breached the surface, their songs echoing through the water, while intricate coral reefs created a kaleidoscope of colors beneath the surface. As the seasons changed, the earth transformed. Winter's icy grip gave way to spring's rebirth, and the once-barren landscapes burst forth with new life. In the summer, fields of golden wheat swayed in the breeze, providing sustenance for countless beings. Autumn's arrival brought a cascade of leaves in a riot of red, orange, and gold, a reminder of the cyclical nature of existence. Humanity, too, played a pivotal role in Earth's story. With minds as vast as the oceans and hearts as deep as the forests, humans harnessed the planet's resources to build civilizations, forge connections, and create cultures as diverse as the landscapes themselves. They built great cities that reached for the sky, and their ingenuity led to technological marvels that spanned continents and connected people across oceans. Yet, amidst the marvels, the earth faced challenges. The boundless curiosity of humanity sometimes led to exploitation, and the delicate balance of ecosystems was disrupted by careless actions. But just as the planet's fullness had been a source of wonder, it also held the potential for redemption. Communities banded together to protect the fragile ecosystems, and innovation turned towards sustainable practices. Awareness grew, and people began to recognize that the earth's fullness was a gift to be cherished and preserved for future generations. From reforestation projects to ocean conservation efforts, the story of Earth evolved into a narrative of resilience and hope. And so, the small blue and green sphere continued its journey through the cosmos, a beacon of life and vitality in the vastness of space. Its fullness, a testament to the power of nature and the indomitable spirit of humanity, served as a reminder that the story of Earth was one of interconnectedness, beauty, and the infinite possibilities that lay within the embrace of our wondrous planet.

Addiction
I guess I always did have a problem with alcohol. The first time I ever drank at a young age led to a blackout. So did most of the other times when I come to think about it. I suspect genetics, bad choices, and a little childhood trauma mixed with an addictive personality are to blame here, but who really knows? I guess it doesn’t really matter, I just have to deal with it now.
