Embarrassment
3 Things I Wish I Had Known 3 Years Ago
That moment when you’ve messed up really bad, and you want to go back in time to fix it. I bet you’ve been there. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), you can’t change the past. You can only learn from it and try not to make the same mistakes again. And that’s how we grow in life.

This is not the life I ordered, but...
I thought I did everything right. I followed the course for the most part. I stayed out of trouble, or at least I thought I was. I worked, I had good people as friends, I gave my heart to Jesus, and I even went to college and became a college grad. So how did I end up at 53 years old on Social Security disability, divorced, and only one more mistake away from sleeping at a homeless shelter? I've been trying to figure that out for a long time. No, this is not the life I ordered. I wanted to have a career that would take care of more than my basic needs. I wanted to have a marriage that was unbeatable. I wanted to feel secure and happy, more so than what Social Security offers.

Being a nice person?
Treat everyone fairly . Be polite, doting , sagacious , scrupulous and compliant . Do not bear any grudges . Do not be cranky or nefarious . Always give helping hands to these who are in need. You must find the common ground , despite the fact that your stomach is turning , when this person is emerging in your horizon. Do not desecrate anyone. Do not strike back at these people who offended you. Kindness is going to vanquish and spearhead the gaudy luminosity in this violent and grey world. These phrases which I have learnt by rote have been reiterating from my grandparents , parents , teachers and even strangers .Conviviality and clemency are the most potent tools on which our perceptions are decreed on , but why am I obliged to put up with someone’s negligent and big-headed behaviour . Why must I turn up blind eye on person’s awful misdeeds toward me? It is not fair . However , no one was listening to mine squeaks , I was clammed up and left to grapple with my own musings and questions in hush and blackness.

What an evil person looks like
Reading through the news, I saw an article which talked about a young man who slaughtered his girlfriend, and instantly I had many questions on my mind. The most obvious question was to know why a person so young would do something so heinous, I wondered to myself why go to such a length and not simply walk away. Cutting the throat of a person requires a certain level of anger and premeditation, you can’t just do such an act out of randomness.

Smile, girl!!!
Maybe I'm not as beautiful and graceful as other people. I don't have my mother's pretty, coconut-shaped nose, my sister's squinty eyes, or my father's dream height. I'm just a normal girl. If I were to rate my appearance, I wouldn't hesitate to give myself a five.

Are you lazy?
In terms of productivity, I’ve been looking for tools to measure precisely my productivity. I found a couple of them which did give me some promising results, but eventually I realized that I didn’t need tools to measure my productive. I also understood why companies don’t measure productivity in terms of what people do on a daily basis. They look at the bigger picture, at the end of the day it's the execution of the higher level tasks which matter and not what small tasks people get done daily.

An Open Letter to Vocal
After only a few months, I am leaving Vocal. When I first started out I was excited. Vocal looked like such a promising, creative platform where any writer would be welcome. It took very little time to find out that the reality is different. The platform has failed to offer me as a new writer what I need: A welcoming, open-minded space for new writers where they can freely explore and are encouraged to be creative. What I found instead, was deeply disappointing. I put a lot of effort into everything that I write. I try to be open, honest, original, and I like to derive from the mainstream. At first glance, it looks like that's what Vocal strives for. But once you get to know the platform a bit better, you start discovering the ugly reality that hides behind a pretty facade.
