I Think I Need My Job

Sooo… there’s some type of ice monster storm going on outside my house that shut down the city for the day and I'm not mad at all. I’m all wrapped up in my fluffy gray blanket, have my favorite snacks, and an entire list of saved T.V Series to dive into. Mad excited, as one should be but before getting into it, I decided to do one last finger strut through my phone making my way towards the “Do Not Disturb”. It’s at this point when I came across a text that said something to the effect of, new work requirements, vaccination cards, with due dates in order to keep working and I’m like (lip smack) Whaa…. Now I’m not crazy, I knew it was coming at some point but right before one of the most romantic days of the year? REALLY? Now is that love? I think not! Amazingly as that was happening I get a call from a friend stating they were going through this exact Situa (no misspell, yes I don’t say the whole word all the time) at their job, despite the man-hours and loyalty. Pretty much if it’s a no-go they said don’t show. SMH! Sooo… after being on my “Golden Girl” (Being a Friend), I hung up and suddenly, I wasn’t so cozy anymore, in fact, the thought of watching tv at that moment annoyed me. Seemed like that ice storm outside had set the tone for the rest of day. Sooo… now I need everyone to pay it forward and get on their “Golden Girl” (Being a Friend), for a moment and oblige me if you will as I vent just like I let my friend do on the phone.

I just have to know, why is something so significantly promoted to be a life-line in this 20 question game changer called Covid, closely aligning itself with that one person we all knew in the school as “The Bully”. I mean, not only is it out here taking lunch money, it’s taking the very livelihood of people, good hard-working people, people dedicated for years on end, to jobs that can’t even began to afford the S… sounds in Staffing Shortage. What is happening people? Seriously! Grant it, whatever your decision in this red pill blue pill test that’s happening, it's your prerogative (Great Song, Thanks Bobby!) but you have to wonder, with all the data that's been provided to us, has it really come down to this? Are we saying to society that we’re making true the statement, “If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you?” with heavy penalties, like the inability to meet your needs to live and take care of your families, if someone dares to question these bridge jumping people or maybe even dare to avoid the bridge altogether? Why? Can someone explain it to me? Am I missing something?

Let’s say you said Yes, would someone who said no truly be a threat to you? Would it make sense to get hot and bothered over someone who may have said no? I mean, couldn’t you just move 6 extra feet away? Is your worry even valid if already protected? Couldn’t you just shake your head and under your breath, in the disdain that's being created from all this, call them a “P.U.S (Poor Unvaccinated Soul), while grabbing your latte from among the waiting unvaccinated coffee cups of your frequently patronized coffee shop and continue off towards your secured job. Sometimes it makes you want to respond back like “What’s it to ya?” when asked if you been jabbed. Wouldn’t it be the No’s that's risking it all according to the hot and bothered crowd anyway? Sooo… “What’s it to ya?”

Now before some of you go getting fidgety, let me remind you, you are on your “Golden Girl” (Being a Friend) and real friends support each other, no matter how wrong they may or may not be. These are really legit questions I have and I’m not the only one who feels this way. Ultimately, it’s scary to know that this has become just one of the many ultimatums we are nose to nose with today. On another note, if the goal is for everyone to be yes men on this subject, wouldn’t you gain more participation being nice about it, instead of giving the decree of no employment if you don’t comply. I don’t know you guys, that just seems more logical to me. I guess it’s true what they say “Fear Rules”, and thats not just the conclusion we draw from observation but its a cautious question in this case, Are we to fear this rule? The verdict is still out and now as am I with my venting. So I guess this coming Love’s Holiday, we will ponder on if there will be jabbing despite being single? ( For the adults, kid jokes, sold seperately) Stayed Tuned…. If anyone needs me though, I’ll be on the bridge.

On A Serious Note: We’ve lost so many people to this, my family and friends have also personally been touched by this. As a covid-suvivor myself, I want to say to all of you, my friends, that your choices are none of my business. You choose whatever you will at your discretion. My prayer is that whatever you do, Stay Well and Stay Safe, I may not know you all but I Love You All! We all can get through this together, 6 FEET APART.
