REJECTIONS DOESN'T DEFINE YOUR POTENTIALS

THE FATE OF "JACK MA"

By Joseph Aragbaiye Published 5 months ago 2 min read

This is the remarkable story of a person who faced numerous challenges and rejections but ultimately went on to become one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world. This individual did not have the privilege of a wealthy background and faced multiple failures in education and job applications.

Despite attempting university admissions three times and applying to Harvard ten times without success, the person did not give up. The only job available was teaching at a university, where the monthly pay was a mere ten dollars. In 1994, facing frustration and financial difficulties, the individual proposed the idea of something called the internet. However, 23 out of 24 people rejected this idea, considering it foolish as they had never heard of the internet and believed the person lacked computer knowledge.

Borrowing $3,000 from banks proved challenging, taking three months without success. Seeking investment from venture capitalists resulted in over 30 rejections. Many considered the proposed model for Alibaba as terrible.

Undeterred, the person gathered $50,000 from 18 founders and started Alibaba in 1999. For the first three years, the company generated no revenue. Despite facing skepticism about the internet, lack of initial profits, and constant rejection, the individual persisted, motivated by emails of thanks from customers.

The journey was challenging, with no revenue for the first three years, but the determination and optimism paid off. The company, Alibaba, grew over the years to include various entities like Tmall, Taobao, and Alipay, becoming a global e-commerce giant.

Reflecting on successful entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Jack Welch, Larry Page, and Mark Zuckerberg, the key differentiator is their optimism for the future. They focus on solving problems for others and see opportunities where people complain.

The advice to young entrepreneurs is to be optimistic, wake up earlier, be braver, and act before others. The best assets are youth and the ability to think independently. Entrepreneurship involves making mistakes, falling, and standing up again. The key is to believe in your dreams, work hard, think differently, and be dedicated to making things happen.

The person behind this incredible story is Jack Ma, the co-founder of Alibaba Group, who defied the odds, transformed the e-commerce landscape, and became an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs worldwide.
