“I wouldn’t have ever danced, if it wasn’t for you”

  • “I am inspired by you and your great courage”.

Tina Turner, originally known as Anna Mae Bullock was born November 26, 1939. An American born singer who first found her success in the rhythm and blues, soul and even rock genres.

Her singing started in her teenage years but her career really blossomed when she hooked up with Ike Turner. ( married in the early 1960’s)

As every table needs a centerpiece (or what I call a vocal point), Tina Turner was more than that. Standing out like no other especially when she was performing with (her ex husband) Ike.

Nothing could stand in the way of Tina Turner’s singing.

My heart was touched after watching several shows she appeared on. In my eyes it was like watching an angel on earth that could not only dance, but sing like no other.

I was engaged to be married, although very shy at the time. Tina Turner and her amazing song “Private Dancer” was released. For several hours in my room I can remember trying to dance like her and sing the song. I personally longed to be just like her. Her amazing beauty, those legs still to this day I only wish to be like her.

From Poison To Medicine

Ike’s father was a slave to a white person. Ike on the other hand (bullied) Tina like she was his slave.

When Tina had started out in life she started by picking cotton. Always knowing deep in her heart that she had a voice that could sing like no other. Never giving up and singing all the time. Ike knew her voice was amazing and that is why she hooked up with him, later to get married. They made so much money - all because of Tina.

The marriage became a nightmare, Tina said she stayed because she cared. Doing everything that Ike wanted her to do, only to be beaten. Such a beautiful black woman with so much talent, beauty and most of all courage.

It only got worse, knowing what it was like to be a slave and sent to the hospital, tortured numerous times. Tina said she was “living death”.

Feeling like he owned her, not able to take it anymore.

Tina took an overdose. The hospital worked hard and were able to save her and help her.

Left Penny-less - Only Wanting Her Name

Sitting watching the interview, Tina had stated that she had no money at all, that Ike took all of it. Telling the world that money didn’t matter, but the best thing that she did have was her name “Tina Turner”. Her name brought her fame and will do it again.

Tina went on to tell the world that she felt her life went from “Poison to Medicine”. That if you believe in yourself with no doubts you can make anything happen, living up to those words she sold over 200 million albums and won 8 Grammy’s.

At the age of forty she looked better than ever, from her hair to her clothes. Most of all her dance moves especially to her song “Whats Love Got To Do With It” was loved all over the world. (later that particular song became a Broadway Show - Telling the real story of Physical Abuse, suffering at the hands of her ex - husband).

Tina made it out to the opening production only to say that she was happier than she ever been in her whole life.

Now happily married to a wonderful man and living in Switzerland. Leaving us with these words.
