Songs That Are a Must for Your Party Playlist

No party is complete without drunk incoherent rasping at two in the morning, much to the annoyance of the neighbours. But everyone must join in, or it just kills the vibe. Here are a few songs that should definitely be on your drunk chanting playlist.

"Hey Jude"

Na na naaaaa... Hard to be believe this song came out over 50 years ago. For the few minutes this song brings, where everyone forgets anything important and can't help but strain their voice whilst screaming the godlike bars of the second half of the song. With Paul McCartney's vocals just perfect and sustaining it's legacy of a sing along classic.

"Don't Look Back In Anger"

Who's Sally? Who cares. I've lost count of the amount of times we've all ended up whaling this to the annoyance of the neighbours either side. But who can resist? A classic hook delivered by Noel Gallagher instead of Liam, which was rare at the time, but to this day, remains one of their most popular songs literally everyone knows at least the chorus to. Sang out of key or at perfect pitch, it will get everyone collaborating.

"Livin' On A Prayer"

I will never forget the night of the high school prom when this tune came on, it was as if everyone who ever had any sort of beef with each other at one point or another, just simply looked past it and rejoiced in the unforgettable chorus of the anthemic tune.

"Mr. Brightside"

Can anyone actually remember a time when this wasn't on the radio all the time? Probably not. An instant hit upon release, it quickly garnered a reputation for being one the most popular songs of the 2000s, and rightly so. Who can honestly say that they've been to a get together and this hasn't been played? No one I imagine. This is a must have for anyone who knows anything about gatherings.

"More Than A Feeling"

One song that everyone knows the line "more than a feeling" but nothing else. But who can shrug it off, without getting the immense satisfaction of horribly butchering the high notes, with a gin and coke half swallowed? I know myself and anyone I've ever met won't pass at the opportunity, so you shouldn't as well.

"Chelsea Dagger"

They should have just called this one "that duh duh duh song". A hook delivered flawlessly to an unsuspecting introvert can make them actually use their vocal cords for the first time all night. It's that catchy. Not once has this appeared at a get together, and everyone there pauses their conversation to spurt out the chorus, and then return to whatever they were talking about seconds later, as if nothing had happened.

"Teenage Dirtbag"

Always a karaoke favourite for my mates. You know the second it comes on, it's suddenly the 2000s again, and remember how great things seemed to be back then. If that's just the nostalgia buzz or not, who cares, the euphoria we achieve through the hook of this cheesy, yet brilliant time capsule of a song, completes the party rock vibe.

"Don't Stop Me Now"

Last orders anyone? No better way to end the night than with a song that contradicts that statement entirely. The classic stadium chant has remained to this day to get many hearts racing, and how can it not. With Freddie Mercury's powerful voice and the perfect guitar solo to fit the song, who can resist but air guitar and think for a moment they are actually Brain May, but alas, all things must pass. And everyone's dinner will be cold at this point.

There you have it. About 30 minutes of music that will get everyone together, for at least half of them. It's worth a go. Especially if you accidentally get caught in the energy vampires beam, who you didn't even invite. So it might be worth including at least one of these just to be safe.
