Songs For The Orange One

There's Only One Way

Introduction

After the thirty-four guilty verdicts for the mendacious misogynist and habitual bankrupt and cheat and thought I put together a short playlist for the occasion, with some notes on the songs and their sources.

Bruce Springsteen - "I'm Going Down" from "Born In The USA"

Although it's essentially a love song, the title is the reason I chose this. I know Springsteen would go mad if The Orange One used any of his music but although I don't he'll go down for any of these criminal charges, I do feel the day is coming.

Ryan Hardie (ft. Ani DiFranco & Tom Morello) - "Beech Have Ain't My Home (Old Man Trump)"

This sums up how appalling the Trump family are. Cheating, lying, racist bullies. The words are by Woodie Guthrie, and the music by Ryan Hardie.

The Soggy Bottom Boys ft. Tim Blake Nelson - "In The Jailhouse Now" From "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?"

I know he's not there but this is a great song from the Coen Brothers take on The Odyssey relocated to the American Deep South, who no doubt admire the views of the orange one.

Elvis Presley - "Jailhouse Rock"

A rather upbeat one for this playlist, though I doubt it will be on the tangerine one's playlist.

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - "Framed"

The sadly missed Alex Harvey and his band turned this brilliant Lieber and Stoller song into a ten-minute concert tour-de-force. You can imagine a certain person using a lot of Alex's lines in his defence.

And from a suggestion by Kendall Defoe

And another Alex version here

Brothers Osborne - "It Ain’t My Fault"

Responsibility is something most right-wingers never have, but you have to check out the gang in this video and the song is good too.

Barbra Streisand ft. Barry Gibb - "Guilty"

The only reason for including this one is the title, thirty-four times over, but it is not my cup of tea at all.

The Pearls - "Guilty"

Slightly better than the Streisand/Gibb offering but still a bit pedantic, some of the words fit, but again, the title, thirty-four times.

De Souza ft Shena - "Guilty"

This is the best of the "Guilty" songs and again, one more just for the title.

Big Brother & The Holding Company with Janis Joplin - "Ball and Chain" from "Cheap Thrills"

An absolutely monstrous sound for what a certain person may have to put up with at some time in the future.

XTC - "Ball and Chain" from "English Settlement"

"Save us from the Ball and Chain" sing XTC and that is what the accused will be hoping but this is referring to a wrecking ball, but it still fits in with the playlist.

Johnny Cash - "San Quentin"

Whether or not the accused will be resident here we do not know, but another brilliant song for the list by a true American Patriot.

Doctor Feelgood - "Riot In Cell Block #9"

We know what happened at the Capitol, and if he goes inside he might imagine this happening. Another Lieber/Stoller classic, this time electrified by Wilko Johnson, Lee Brilleaux, John B. Sparks and John "Big Figure" Martin.

The Clash - "Bank Robber"

Thirty-four guilty charges, so many bankruptcies, how much money was stolen for the taxpayer to give to the rich, a Robin Hood in reverse, a definite thief and robber.

Ducks Deluxe - "I Fought The Law (And The Law Won)"

There are so many versions of the Sonnuy Curtis songs, but most know it by The Clash. I am closing this playlist with a favourite version of mine.

I hope you have enjoyed this:

"Breaking Rocks In The Hot Sun,

I Fought The Law And The Law Won"

Some great choices. Have to put either Brothers Osborne or XTC as my faves in the list, but a super strong finale as well
