Hey there, just wanted to share the songs that have been getting me through my week thus far. Though, I have been having a hard time loving music lately, I want to explore more so I can gather a good playlist for my half marathon this weekend. I like a variety of songs, and genres. Maybe there’s something for you in here:
1. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
Okay, honestly…I’ve probably heard more of (if not ONLY of) the cover by Lianne La Havas. Don’t get me wrong, I knew it was a cover, I just didn’t seek out the original till I saw someone making a funny video about it on YouTube and went “hmmm…I do like the sound of the original, so I should play the whole thing.” Yes, you’re very much allowed to boo me on this one.
I like how mellow but raw this song is. And don’t get me started on Ed in the background. I heard he’s singing “Far Out” but the joke on YouTube (a video by MilesLargeTV) was that he was saying his name! Anyway, shouts out to MylesLargeTV for getting me to listen to the original!
It’s one of those songs where I can’t decide what instrument I want to learn it on!
2. Hold On-The Internet
(A soft and sexy song-sensual)
Heard it in the restaurant while on a date with someone who broke my heart two days later. Go figure.
The song still slaps. I mean, The Internet and their openings…
That bass and piano carrying before Syd starts in with her soft voice.
My favorite part “I know you love me,” because there’s something about a soft higher voice going into a deep voice that gets me.
3. Coline Sicre- He Taught me to Yodel
Yes, I’m very much into yodeling at the moment, but I mainly just her two songs/her doing it. I’ve always found it pretty cool, but never just sought it out on my own till now. The technique is impressive, and she’s of course very upbeat. I can hear her smiling or at least feeling chipper, and man it’s infectious! I’ve literally skipped to this song this week!
4. Coline Sicre- Il m’a montré à Yodler
Same song as before but but but IN FRENCH.
Seriously, how can one sing and yodel in such a fast pace, sounding so happy, in TWO different languages.
I can’t even choose my favorite. They’re both so good, and as someone still learning the language, I have been listening to this one more.
Both are going into my “running” playlist!
5. Wild World- Cat Stevens
I was introduced to this song by a UK show (forget the US version please) called Skins
In the show, the cast sings this as they go through how wild their life has been. Man, I’m not the biggest fan of shows randomly cutting to “sing-a-long” time, but it absolutely worked here. The kids looked so miserable and I loved the scene.
the song goes
But if you wanna leave, take good care
————————
Oooh baby baby it’s a wild world
It’s hard to get by with just a smile
Honestly, when I listen to this song I think it could go for anyone that’s pulling apart from you. Sure, the opening is giving “ex lover” but I also thought of it as him singing to a daughter or a friend ‘cause it talks about going away, and growing and him wanting them to have the best in a world that’s pretty rough. And that, my friend, is a universal message for everyone. You’re gonna see people leave ya, you’re gonna wish them the best, but the world is pretty darn sad and you gotta take some hits.
Which of these songs have you heard? What songs would you recommend to me? I’m very interested in knowing.
Thanks for reading. Peace

Great list! I love that Cat Stevens track, it’s great. And Weird Fishes/Arpeggi is a great track as well! In Rainbows is Radiohead’s best album, it’s so so so good. You should check out All I Need from that same album if you haven’t!!
