The veteran rapstress requires props from the up-and-comer.

As her alter ego Roman Zolanski has pointed out in the song “Roman’s Revenge” off her platinum-selling album Pink Friday (2010), Nicki Minaj declared that she was going to compete with the boys. Like a leader of men, Nicki Minaj has fought her way way from Queens, New York not just battling the ladies in the game but the males as well.

So when this kerfuffle with Latto surfaced, it became even more apparent that she was the rightful owner of the throne that she earned. By her bars, her outlandish style, and adaptability, Nicki has blazed a trail that rejects Latto’s assertions that she’s a “bully.”

It’s somewhat over the coveted GRAMMY® Awards. Both artists saw their respective songs placed among the pop players. Instead of linking together and forming their own awards, the two are bickering at each other seemingly to no end.

Latto is an up-and-comer who still has a lot to learn about the business of music. The genre of rap is dominant but the pop music lane garners high figures as well. Mostly higher.

The two raptresses should recognize each other. Latto should behold Nicki as a goddess on the mic and respect her overall gangster. Nicki should say thank you for being seen as the mogul in the rap/pop arena.

Yet it all runs deeper. It is the feud between two women of color which stirs up dissension and distrust among female artists of a darker hue.

In all of that, Latto should be able to sit down with Nicki and possibly work out some kind of album where they are featured as a duo. Nicki has put in the work and has been able to scale Mount Hip Hop. She is definitely one of the shining forty under forty.

Though, Latto has a point in saying that the women in the game are “flourishing.” They are aware of endorsements and streaming residuals. They are honing their craft to make their lines sparkle like gems.

As sharp as Latto’s pen is in songs like “Big Energy,” and as pointed as Nicki is on songs like “Moment 4 Life,” both artists exploit themselves sexually. They should be dressed like Greta Van Susteren. While it’s beautiful and tantalizing to tease the viewers of their videos, they should settle their beef and invest their time and money into fashion that doesn’t have to titillate all of the time.

The feud goes on because both women are more alike than not. In the beginning, both had to struggle and compete against both guys and gals. They’re still in that fight. This all just seems like a misunderstanding. They have used their physical attributes and racy lyrics to draw in audiences. The cliché “sex sells” is but another example of how it’s true to an extent. When it comes to adult women, it is especially true. In a male-dominant field that has to use fleshy, flashy bait to get the fish on the hook, these women know about this to a fault.

In time, it seems as if the two will become friends. Latto will open for Nicki and be a loyal companion amongst the mental vampires, zombies, and mummies still within the genre.

It will be up to both women to declare that it is better to forge bridges than to leave two ends of the river of hate unconnected. With just a few words, the two can become at least business associates. Nicki Minaj has sold hundreds of millions of records. She could guide Latto down the path of sales glory with just a few pointers.

With the mindset of being the earned king as opposed to queen or princess, Nicki could start a masterclass denoting her career and forever squashing the beef among women kings.
