Canada is the home of opportunities, and creatives aren't left out of the mix. The country has produced quite a number of famous musical artists, some of whom are now household names worldwide.

The chances that you know Drake, Justin Bieber, and Celine Dion are quite high, irrespective of where you are in the world. However, some other names on this list might sound strange to those who don’t listen to particular genres of music or based in Canada.

Nonetheless, here are seven of the most famous Canadian singers:

1. Drake

Drake is a former child actor turned rapper. He is widely considered the first Canadian to achieve mainstream popularity since the 1990s to early 2000s when rappers like Dream Warriors and K-os rose to popularity.

He is considered one of the world's most influential and popular rap stars. Drake has been Canada's biggest hypeman for years, starting with the co-founding of OVO (October's Very Own) Sound and coining the city's unofficial nickname, "The 6."

His "Views" album art features the CN Tower, and he even has a tattoo of the landmark on his arm. He has also introduced The Weeknd, a fellow Canadian, to the world.

2. Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber, who is only 27, has dominated pop culture discourse for nearly a decade. Since getting to the limelight at age 13 following his discovery on Youtube, the Ontario-born singer has seen it all and has a robust catalogue to his name.

Adaptable as a chameleon, Justin Bieber can jump on any song and make it a hit. He's also gifted us one of the strongest earworms in history, 'Sorry.'

3. Shawn Mendes

Mendes, like Justin Bieber, turned his Vine fame into his rapid rise to pop stardom. His passionate voice and acoustic guitar mastery, adding tension and longing to pop-rock's often-staid model, cemented Mendes' place among the music elite. Aside from a string of big hit singles such as "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" and the latest addition, "If I Can't Have You," Mendes is also an outstanding album artist, as demonstrated in deep cuts like "Hold On."

4. The Weeknd

In 2011, The Weeknd—whose real name is Abel Tesfaye— exploded onto the music scene with his mixtape "House of Balloons." His career as an artist continued to grow as he worked with Drake, Wiz Khalifa, and others.

In 2015, The Weeknd had tremendous success with the Grammy-winning album "Beauty Behind the Madness," including the hit song "Can't Feel My Face." He won another Grammy with his second album, "Starboy" (2016), and collaborated with artists such as Daft Punk.

5. Celine Dion

Celine Dion is a highly successful Canadian singer whose success started from quite a young age. By the time she turned 18, she had already recorded nine albums in French, winning her several awards.

Her first album in English, “Unison,” was released in 1990. Seven years later, in 1997, she won the Grammy Album of the Year with her album "Falling Into You."

6. Shania Twain

Shania Twain is a Canadian music lover from an early age—she started writing songs at the young age of 10.

In 1995, she had massive success with her second album, "The Woman in Me," after which she delivered what is now the best-selling country music album in history with "Come on Over" in 1997.

As a result of personal and health issues, Twain took a long hiatus before returning to the spotlight in 2011 with a memoir and a Las Vegas residency in 2012. In 2017, she released her first original album in 15 years with—"Now"—followed by a feature film debut in 2019—"Trading Paint."

7. Rush

Known as one of the most successful rock acts out of Canada, Rush sold over one million records worldwide.

After growing up in Toronto, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson found success in the local club circuit before forming the legendary prog-rock band. Other band members at different points include Jeffrey Robin Jones, John Rutsey, Neil Peart, Lindy Young, Mitchell Bossi and Joe Perna.

Notably, Jeffrey Robin Jones is an American singer of Canadian descent.

Since their debut, the band has evolved their sound, but their musicianship, the complexity of their compositions, and lyricism will always stand out. Moreover, in as much as Rush were the ones that hit it big, other notable Canadian prog-rockers include Klaatu, Saga, and Triumph.

Conclusion

These are the people flying the flag of Canada all over the world, as far as music is concerned. Though, due to their mixture and constant collaborations with their American counterparts, some of them are sometimes mistaken for American artists. However, they don't miss any opportunity to show off their Canadian origin. many other famous artists immigrated to Canada over the years and started their musical career in the big white north.

So, if you think you might be the next big star but can't find yours;f a true opportunity in your homeland, maybe it's time for you to think about trying again in Canada. all you need to do is find yourself an RCIC, and start your journey towards Canada. it's Canadian artist's time to shine, so why don't you join them?
