I fell in love with this show “Dharma and Greg” it’s a sitcom that was a head of its time and the first of it’s kind that explored the concept of twin flames coming together as Dharma and Greg were but it was only said throughout the show that they were soulmates.

My mother was watching it one night and I came into the room wondering what she watching so I sat down and liked what I saw and had been hooked on the show. I really liked the plot of the show. I am always saying that this or that is a head of their times it’s because what I write about it is a head of it’s time and “Dharma and Greg” is a show that is no different.

The show is set in San Francisco, California. Dharma the daughter of hippies Abbey and Larry she herself a hippie and free spirit who is also a yoga teacher and dog walker. Greg the son of Edward and Kittie Montgomery, a rich family Greg was a lawyer who became a politician. The lives of Dharma and Greg become one when one day Dharma lets her soul guide her to his office and they meet go on a date and became one as their soul and the universe had said.

The show introduced new age spirituality and other concepts to the average person who wouldn’t have heard of any of these otherwise like yoga, meditation, the universe, vegan, vegetarian, animal rights and all kinds of hippie and earth mother and father concepts which is one of the reasons why I liked this show.

The 2 father in laws Larry and Edward are absolute comedic fauder for one another they were truly funny. Dharma had a rambunctious best friend named Jane. Jane was a true original perfect for this show. The mother in laws Kittie and Abby were complete opposites: Abby the earth mother and Kitty the snob wealthy millionaire mother. That was the point of it opposites coming together just as much as it was the same for Dharma and Greg being that opposites do attract.

It was a revolving door of every celebrity from every walk of life in the entertainment world. You never knew who would be stopping by or coming into the world of Dharma and Greg. I would always watch the show and aspire to be like the people on the show.

The show never was shy about addressing any issue that was going on in the world. No issue was left out every thing was a mature, open minded, and grown up way. Issues like race, politics adoption, environmental issues, gay and straight, issues of religion, sexuality. Animal rights.

Of Course, being that Dharma’s parents were quintessential hippies Larry was the weed smoking stoner dad who was militant and into politics and conspiracy. He was also a trying musician and all of this about his character explains why Tommy Chong was written into the show as Larry’s best friend.

Abby was the earth mother and true vegan and vegetarían and that is beautiful and she was an environmental activist. Both of Dharma’s parents were activists as was Dharma. One episode Dharma sacrifices herself when Greg is about to hit a deer so Dharma sacrifices herself for the deer. What Dharma did caused her injury but it was an act of heroism and being true to what her parents had always taught her all of her life to love all people and animals equally. There is liberals and conservatives and all walks of life are represented equally in this show.
