There are so many top 5 to top 100 music lists and beyond from every genre in music. When top lists come out there is always an uproar or approval because everyone has different music tastes, but engagement and conversation are always profound and needed.

I decided to begin creating lists as a way of fun and a way to educate those who may not be aware of certain music artists that have blessed our lives past, present, and future.

This is not gospel, this list is just my personal opinion. I know some folks will not agree and some folks will be in awe that this Black girl loves her some rock and roll.

Again, it's all in fun! Enjoy my top 5 Best Rockstars Of All Time list.

5- Jack White

Blue Hair, Black Hair I don't care. Loved me some Jack White since I fell in love with The White Stripes. I followed his career with other bands and as a solo artist. His powerful voice can move mountains, soothe your soul, and draw you in with any music genre he dives into. Listening to him sing is a spiritual experience. This Rock Legend should be celebrated and giving his flowers for the rest of time.

Jack White is a musician, singer, songwriter, and music producer, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the duo The White Stripes. He has won 12 Grammy Awards, and three of his solo albums have reached number one on the Billboard charts. Rolling Stone ranked him number 70 on its 2010 list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". The New York Times called White "the coolest, weirdest, and savviest rockstar of our time". I agree and will add that Jack has hella swag! Some of my favorite songs that Jack has ever sung are: "Fell in Love with a Girl", "Another Way to Die", "Conquest", "Love is Blindness", "The Hardest Button to Button", Love Interruption, and Seven Nation Army" to name a few.

Jack White is a board member of the Library of Congress's National Recording Preservation Foundation. His record label and studio Third Man Records releases vinyl recordings of his own work as well as that of other artists.

4-Alanis Morrisette

When Jagged Little Pill released in 1995, I was singing all kinds of songs from Alanis that I had no business singing at the time because of my age, but I tell ya, I was singing them anyway and still blast that album at max volume to this day. Singer and songwriter Alanis Morissette's emotive mezzo-soprano voice and confessional songwriting are what make her the best female rock star that ever lived. Jagged Little Pill sold more than 33 million copies globally and made her a cultural phenomenon.

Thank you, Alanis for every song you ever sang. They are all otherworldly pieces of art. It will be so hard to even name a top-five list of hers. I would, however, love to shout out "You Oughta Know", "Hand in My Pocket", "Ironic", "You Learn", "Head Over Feet", "Uninvited", "Thank U", and "Hands Clean".

Alanis has won seven Grammy Awards and has sold more than 75 million records worldwide. She has been dubbed the "Queen of Alt-Rock Angst" by Rolling Stone.

3-Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain

There will never, ever, ever, did I say never? Be another rock vocalist like Kurt Cobain. His legacy and imprint on rock music are so profound that he definitely deserves to be on the Mount Rushmore of the best rockstars of all time. Kurt's voice and talent are dearly missed and continue to be beloved by generation after generation. If timeless voices were a person, Kurt would certainly be that.

Kurt Cobain has sang from the depths of his soul some of the greatest rock music masterpieces ever created in the history of life. Kurt was the co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Nirvana. Songs such as "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "All Apologies", "About A Girl", "Lithium", "You Know You're Right", "Come As You Are" and "Polly" to name a few are just unmatched.

Rolling Stone included Kurt in its lists of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, 100 Greatest Guitarists, and 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. He was ranked 7th by MTV in the "22 Greatest Voices in Music".

No one will ever forget his performances during Nirvana's MTV Unplugged. One of the best-televised rock performances ever hands down is when Kurt performed "Where Did You Sleep Last Night". Kurt was just a Rock and Grunge God!

2- Jim Morrison

Jim Morrison

Sex appeal, killer voice, and unapologetic and bold lyrics is the reason Jim Morrison is one of the most influential frontmen in rock history. The poet, singer, and songwriter also referenced as The Lizard King was the lead vocalist of the rock band The Doors.

Jim recorded a total of six studio albums with the Doors. Some of the most iconic songs in rock history were recorded by Jim such as "Break On Through (To the Other Side)", "Light My Fire", "People Are Strange", "Five to One", and "Hello, I Love You".

Jim and The Doors continue to inspire musicians and rock vocalists to this day and Jim has repeatedly been cited as a main inspiration for the gothic rock genre. Rock Icon Jim Morrison will forever win and take over rock history. Rest in Peace.

1- Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury

British singer and songwriter Freddie Mercury to me is the Rock God of Rock Gods. He was best known as the lead vocalist and pianist of the rock band Queen. Freddie's stage presence, fashion, vocals, and songwriting sets him apart from every lead singing rockstar that has ever held a microphone. One of the greatest singers in the history of rock music had a four-octave vocal range and sang some of my favorite songs in the entire world which including but not limited to "Killer Queen", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Somebody to Love", "We Are the Champions", "You're My Best Friend", " Love of My Life", "Who Wants To Live Forever", and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".

Freddie wrote numerous hits for Queen. He, his songs, and his performances will be remembered forever such as the 1985 Live Aid concert. He also led a solo career and was a producer and guest musician for other artists.

Freddie Mercury was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. His career with Queen was dramatized in the 2018 biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. Freddie Mercury is truly the best rockstar of all time. He will never be forgotten.

Honorable Mentions:

Anthony Kiedis, Tina Turner, Tori Amos, Jonathan Davis, and Steven Tyler.

Thank you for checking out my list. I hope if you're just learning about these rock legends that you enjoy the music they have blessed the world with. I also hope for fans who already are rocking to them that you continue to enjoy their visionary work.

Until next time…peace, love, rock & roll!
