After a long Five Years, legend Is Coming Back

SEOUL, 29 avr. (Yonhap) — SEOUL, 29 avr. (Yonhap) — Psy, who is well-known around the world because to his viral video "Gangnam Style," made a much-anticipated return this Friday with his ninth studio album, which he said was created "with great care."

"It's an album that I worked on for a long time and with great care," the 44-year-old singer-rapper said at an album promotion event hosted at a Seoul hotel.

The next album, titled «Psy 9th», has 12 tracks, the most notable of which is "That That," which was co-produced by Suga of the boy band BTS. Suga also contributed to the creation, orchestration, and writing of the song's lyrics.

Psy recounted how he came to collaborate with the BTS rapper for the first time.

"Last year, Suga approached me with a pitch, claiming to have a "important song." I heard the music and it was just amazing."

Psy said that Suga's offer to collaborate on a Latin-style track came at the perfect time. He said that he was quite appreciative of the young artist's visit.

Psy wrote the lyrics to the opening song titled "9INTRO" himself, revisiting the last 22 years of his singing career.

Other prominent members of the K-pop industry, such as Sung Si-kyung, Heize, Crush, Tablo, and Hwasa du Mamamoo, contributed to this latest album.

«Sept jeunes musiciens ont contributed to the CD, and everyone accepted my offer without reservation. I was overjoyed that musicians as demanding and young as myself spoke with me without any sense of alienation, despite the fact that I am no longer very young.»

Earlier in the day, his management company P Nation announced that the artist's 2012 chart-topping single, «Gangnam Style», had surpassed 4,4 billion plays on YouTube on Thursday.

«This is a really special song for me,» Psy said of his tube. «It's like the largest trophy on display in a corner of my room».

The song propelled him to the second spot on Billboard's Hot 100's main singles chart, becoming the first Korean-language song to do so. Psy spent a total of seven weeks at this post.

The song's video clip became the first to surpass YouTube's view limit, surpassing 2 billion views in May 2014, prompting YouTube to update its counter.

YouTube has become into a significant platform for promoting K-pop artists.

«Getting on the radio is difficult, even for well-known Korean artists such as BTS and Blackpink, who sing mostly in other languages. That is why YouTube is your ally», Psy said. «Following the success of 'Gangnam Style,' Billboard reduced its reliance on radio broadcasting and increased its reliance on YouTube (to gauge the popularity of songs). I'm proud to have been a part of this evolution,» he said.
