A Ghanaian-American has taken to complaining that a national award program created in America, for Americans isn't doing enough to award Africans. Angry that Africans living on the continent of Africa aren't receiving enough awards from a country across the ocean.

This same thing happened with the BET (Black Entertainment Awards) awards has added African artist and Burna Boy a Nigerian won an award this year yet didn't even bother to attend the awards show in held in the United States.

There are several African music awards all over the African continent. Ghana for example has the VGMA awards (Vodafone Ghana Music Awards) Not one of the categories created in their awards show is for anyone outside of their nation, which means country.

These are the Vodafone Ghana music award categories:

Highlife Song of The Year, Best Gospel Song, Best Hip Hop Song, Best Afrobeats Song, Best Afropop Song, Best Reggae/Dancehall Song, Best Reggae/Dancehall Song, Best Music Video, Best Male Vocal Performance, Best Female Vocal Performance, Best Rap Performance, Best Gospel Artiste, Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste, Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste, Best Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste, Best Highlife Artiste, Songwriter of the year, Collaboration of the Year, Best African Artiste, Record of the Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song

Black Americans created Rap/Hip Hop music yet not one Black American was nominated for an award. Not one Black American is ever given an award, also Jamaicans created Reggae, they too weren't nominated.

Of course Ghanaians then had to make a comment about race, because Black Africans aren't racists. Ghanaians constantly make everything about race, skin color or complexion, it's the most annoyingly and openly racist country that gets a pass because they're African.

Amaarae criticizes the Grammys for categorizing African Music under a single category

Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae has expressed her disappointment with the Recording Academy widely known as the Grammy Awards, for consolidating all African music genres into a single category.

Known in private life as Ama Serwah Genfi, the music sensation known for her unique blend of genres argued that the Recording Academy’s approach is reductive and failed to recognize the diverse and influential contributions of African artists to the global music scene.

Speaking in an interview with Metro TV, the ‘Fountain Baby’ singer who was responding to the introduction of the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category at the Grammys voiced her concerns about the grouping of all African musical genres into one category at the Grammys.

“The idea of an African category is great in practice, but I think it is reductive. There are too many categories to just be placed under an umbrella of African music,” she disclosed

The Academy recently unveiled three new additions to the 2024 Grammys, which will take place at the 66th GRAMMY Awards and it includes the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category which encompasses various African music genres, including Afrobeats, Afro-pop, Amapiano, High Life, Fuji, Kwassa, Ndombolo, Mapouka, Ghanaian Drill, Afro-House, South African Hip-Hop, and Ethio Jazz.

While acknowledging the positive intention behind creating an African category, she highlighted that it oversimplifies the rich and multifaceted music landscape of the continent

The Grammy Awards isn't for the African continent. African's which have several award programs, where no Americans or people from other continents are given awards for their music.

Africans have long been arguing about not being included, when they don't include anyone either. As countries tend to celebrate their own countries. Most create national awards for their own nation. (countries)

The Grammy Awards (stylized as GRAMMY), or simply known as the Grammys, are awards presented by the Recording Academy of the United States to recognize "outstanding" achievements in the music industry.
