Disney's "Hercules" (1997)

Disney movies have endless amounts of positive energy and motivational speeches hidden in their musical pieces, which have the power to lift your mood and make you inspired. Let's borrow some motivation from the characters it was meant for, and spread the joy and strength to everyone around us.

"Friends On The Other Side" - "The Princess and the Frog"

You probably don't hear often that you should have villains as your role models, but one thing we can take away from the Disney antagonists is that they're usually extremely confident. We should all be more like them in the sense that they wholeheartedly believe in what they're doing, and they're certain they can achieve it. Believing in yourself and confidently taking pride in your work is something that should be everyone's default.

"My Time" - Elena of Avalor"

Our challenges and difficult situations may be completely different to the ones we see in Disney movies, but we can still relate to having to take control of your own life and be in charge, and sometimes there will be tricky decisions to make and dilemmas to solve. We need to be prepared for those moments that will require us to muster up all our courage, and be ready to do what's right, no matter what comes our way.

"Shiny" - "Moana"

It's inevitable that this list will include a few villain songs. I know a lot of people consider this scene strange and confusing, but I think we can really learn something from the arrogant Tamatoa. Here's a character who's really embraced themselves and is comfortable in their own skin (shell). He spends most of the song giving himself compliments and showing off his flamboyant and confident personality, which regardless of his evil actions, I have to admit to admire.

"Zero to Hero" - "Hercules"

Who doesn't get a boost from hearing/watching the muses do their thing? Their endless confidence, elegant manners and great sound while singing about Hercules being unstoppable (as well as their favorite flavor) is just really empowering. And I mean, who watched this movie as a child without wanting to be one of the muses?

"Be Prepared" - "The Lion King"

Few songs have a stronger "I need to take control and be in charge" drive than this song. Sometimes we really can learn something from Disney villains, and although they're rarely successful, I need to give it to them that they know exactly what they want and they're trying to make it happen. As long as there are no evil intentions, these are qualities I'd like to see in everyone. Being brave enough to make a plan and set out to bring it to fruition is something we should let this powerful song inspire us to do.

"When Can I See You Again?" - "Wreck-it Ralph"

I think that the older we get, the more we realise how important it is to make the time we have count. That doesn't mean toxic productivity and constantly starting new projects, but really making sure we're doing stuff we enjoy. Let's all make an effort to not put doing things off and save them for the future, but allow ourselves to jump into the fun now and get as much as possible out of life. If there's something you'd like to learn how to do or a new hobby you'd like to explore, why would you leave it for later? Allow yourself to thrive as much as possible during your time on this planet, and fill your days with exactly what you want, whatever that looks like to you.

"I'm Still Here" - "Treasure Planet"

Unfortunately we all from time to time have to deal with people not believing in us and putting us down. The world isn't exclusively filled with caring people, and not everyone will support you on your journey. Use people's doubts as fuel to your fire, and let it motivate you to show them that you can do it. It's often said that success is the best revenge, and I think many of us can confirm that it's true. Proving people wrong about you is incredibly satisfying, so don't let some people's negativity make you lose faith in yourself.

"When Will My Life Begin? - Reprise" - "Tangled"

I'm sure we've all had moments where we're not entirely confident we have what it takes to complete the task in front of us, but sometimes you need to take a leap and throw yourself into something even though you might not think you're ready. We can't go our whole lives waiting for the perfect time to do something, we should create our own opportunities instead.

"Hakuna Matata" - "The Lion King"

Although turning your back to the world and ignoring any problems that could occur isn't necessarily the most responsible way to go through life, the idea of a lifestyle without worries for the rest of your days is something we should practice more. The well-known quote that worrying means suffering twice hits incredibly true, as most of us are probably guilty of wasting our energy on worrying about something that's out of our control.

"Immortals" - "Big Hero 6"

This scene has to be one of the greater ones we've seen in recent years. The transformation from feeling helpless and without the power to make a difference, to building a strong team who sticks together and will do anything to fight evil. The song is among the most empowering Disney songs in existence, as it makes you feel fearless, in control and like you can achieve absolutely anything.

Music has the power to influence us greatly, and we should definitely take advantage of that. Add a few of these songs to your playlist to get a little extra boost throughout your day!
