A Fishy Date
I’m covered from head to toe in nondescript clothing. I'm wearing a hat and hoodie to hide my hair and a pair of reflective sunglasses to keep anyone from seeing my eyes and to avoid facial recognition tech. Safe to say I’m a wanted man, and that should be enough to keep me in hiding. The problem is, I also recently entered into a relationship with a girl named Nerissa, and things are getting pretty serious. She asked me if we could get to an aquarium because she had never been before, and she’d heard that’s a pretty popular date spot on land. I have a hard time saying no to her, so despite the risk to myself, I’m here waiting for her inside the Light City aquarium. I told her we should come to her separately just to be safe.

I Know You
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. There was no electricity in a cabin this far out from civilization, but staying in some sort of shelter beats staying out in the rain. I looked around to the rest of my unit as they went about killing time while we waited out the night. Not much that can be done considering the sky above is dropping a lake on us tonight.

Comfort Food
Where did it all go wrong? I run rapidly through the darkened forest, the night vision mode sputtering in and out of my goggles. My right leg burns from getting grazed by bullets when we escaped and using my super speed on an empty stomach makes me nauseous, but I have to keep going. I stare down at the unconscious form in my arms. Autumn was bleeding profusely from her head and had been out like a light for the last hour. I try to retrace the events of the night in my head, but the pain and sickness is driving it all away.

Knox
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. These were the first few words that hung high over the heads of all who would come towards the throne room of Midas. Adorned as a part of a large tapestry that tells the history of not only the nation of Midas, but of all Fraus. An older knight and a young boy walk up the grand staircase towards the throne room. The older knight patiently waits in front of the throne room as the young boy’s eyes and mind wander to the depictions of glorious heroes prevailing over horrid dragons.

A Dream of Revenge
I reach down into my satchel and pull out a book. The first page reads “Property of Long River”. Following that, in the next few pages of said book, is my list of names. Looking down the list, almost every one of them is crossed out. I scrawled them out viciously as and when their relevance to me dissipated. On the second to last page, there is only a single name not crossed out. It reads ‘William Percival Clyde’ and underneath reads ‘Headmaster of the residential school’. I’ve collected various notes about this person I am hunting over the years. I’ve filled the pages with anything I found relevant or useful, but my last quarry eludes me and notes that no longer proved useful I scribbled out. The last readable note being my current lead: ‘friends with the mayor of London?’

Kindness is Quintessential
Only through kindness will we find the end to any strife. It seems as the years pass us by in this ever-evolving modern world, the introductory notes of human kindness deteriorate around us. We are becoming a more cold and calloused world. The hardness of life, in turn, makes every throw up their barriers and become harder. Individuals who are further removed from giving kindness will find it hard to receive kindness when it is shown to them. One of the ways I want to expand the compassion I put out into the world is to remember how to accept it myself.

2022: Resolving to Rest
I feel like I haven't actually rested since the pandemic basically took over the United States in March of 2020. A supermajority of 2020 was occupied by the ever-present thought that I had to do everything possible to protect my family from a pandemic level virus that was scouring the globe. I took on a massive amount of the household responsibility for my home and the home of vulnerable relatives. While doing all of this, I lived in a household that essentially didn't take my concerns seriously. They'd ask for my feelings when a potential problem would arise but only with the expectation that I bury how I truly felt to appease what they wanted. In 2020 I found myself in the most isolated position of my life.
