I'm a creative writer in the way that I write. I hold the pen in this unique and creative way you've never seen. The content which I write... well, it's still to be determined if that's any good.

Invisible Success
It was probably the best I’ve ever done in any competition in my life… for anything. So, it gives me immense pride. I had entered the Launch Pad Prose Writing Competition with my short story “Darkness of the Ecuadorian Sunset.” I had entered this contest with different stories three times before. The first two times, nothing happened. The third time, I moved on to the second round which was a great feeling. And it was progress. But then nothing else. And the next round, the Top 100, that was when you would start to reap the benefits. That was when you’d get your story promoted to people in the industry.

Primordial Magic: Cells for Spells
It was under the old Avaluschia tree 500 steps from the edge of the village where Tommen always told Skavver all the most important things. It was where Tommen told Skavver that his mother was dying. Skavver cried. Tommen cried too. It was the first and only time Skavver ever saw his father cry.

This story was originally posted on Medium. Everyone knows about the small pride of lions that roam the woods here in this small, northern Maine town. Few of us have ever seen them. One time I thought I did… but no… it was just a few deer, thick and paunchy, with their heads lowered for a brief moment.

Choosing Between Two Stories
Oh my goodness! I was sitting there, going back and forth over my choices. Which do I want to choose? I can make a case for both of them! I don't know which to go with but I need to choose just one. I was thinking, "Who could I ask for help, choosing between two stories?"

Peggy: The Guinea Pig
I was outside feeding the birds when one of my neighbors in my building came outside and we began to talk. I asked her how things were, what was new, the usual questions in conversation. She had an answer that was far from usual, though.

Joey: The California Desert Tortoise
It was a typical February day, I was working from home, busy on the computer. Evelyn called me. I picked up and our conversation was definitely not one of the top five conversations I would’ve expected. Not top 10, top 50, top 100. Pretty unexpected.
