Rose Loren Geer-Robbins
Bio
One does not simply become a famous writer! It takes many hours before the sun comes up and even more when the sun sets. I am never sure what world I am living in, the one that I am writing about or reality.

'I think this would be a good time for a beer!'
On a warm spring day, a hearse pulled from the small town of Warm Springs, GA, while the mournful sounds of an accordion played Dvorak's Going Home. A military escort led the vehicle down the roadway lined with soldiers as they watched in silence as the American flag-draped coffin was taken to the rail station. The train pulled out in the early morning, the windows of the last car of the train were down so that the thousands of people who gathered at the train tracks could watch the final time that Franklin D. Roosevelt would leave Georgia and head to Washington DC.

North, South, East, West
I think that everyone has a perfect first date in mind. As we grow up, the date might change along with the ending, but that one perfect first date still lingers in our subconscious. We use it to evaluate all the first dates that we go on. I like to think of it as a compass- directing the explorer on the right path to true love.

Flight of Shame
My husband and I were at the airport waiting for our flight to take us home. We had just spent three days with the most picturesque landscapes; God's broad strokes of color were bountiful. The vacation had rejuvenated, relaxed, and refreshed us. We were ready to go home.

The Yin to Saint Nicholas' Yang
I love Marvel movies. I don't think that the boys and I have missed one. They linked to some of my favorite memories. The four of us planning a trip to the movie theaters- the popcorn, candy, the arguments over seating arrangements, the LONG discussions afterward on the Marvel movie's whole plot and how it ties into the others. Will there be a part 2? I am a big fan of Doctor Strange- my kids not so much. But, by far- I loved the Thor movies. And Loki was my favorite character. I don't know why. He was always trying to get the upper hand, he was not a good person, but he was funny! What I didn't know was that the whole movie is base on Norse mythology.

To a Female Veteran
To a Female Veteran, You did well. You were good enough. You were strong enough. You are still impressive. I know the struggles that you faced every day. Struggles that we still don’t talk about because we don’t share our stories. We are the quiet veterans. We don’t get the hats, the t-shirts, the acknowledgment. I know that it hurts- because we all gave something too.

The night I was voted off the Island
I have had my share of embarrassing moments in life. I am short, have horrible eyesight, wore braces on two different occasions, and I have a hard time pronouncing words like spaghetti, hamburger, and supposedly. I get nervous talking to co-workers, my jokes are only good in my head, and my ‘go-to’ line in heated arguments is ‘Oh really!’

The Reality of Documentaries
If you are like me, I can settle in and watch a real-life crime documentary for hours. It draws me in. Did they do it? How did they get away with it for so long? Of course, they did it! There wouldn’t be a documentary on it if they hadn’t done it right? Or they didn’t do it, and it’s a documentary on a false confession. Or maybe it was all a set-up!

It's that time- St. Paddy's Day has arrived!
Saint Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. Or as we call it- St. Paddy’s Day. Rivers are going to be dyed green. 5k and 10k’s of little green men and women wearing top hats and tutu’s will be held during the month. Wal-Mart started selling ‘Pinch me, I am Irish’ shirts on Valentine’s day. And bars are receiving their shipment of extra glasses from Amazon in anticipation of the biggest holiday for beer. I am already planning my meal of Corned Beef and Cabbage with Soda bread- which is currently all on sell at Fred Meyer’s if you are interested.

The Professor and the Madman
What a minute! Why did no one tell me about The Professor and the Madman on Netflix? We have been binge watching shows like Radioactive and The Trial of the Chicago 7, but we forgot to mention this movie? I am shocked. I am stunned. I am going to watch the movie again!

A day in my life trying to work and raise a puppy
I have to tell you about my day...I need to get it off my chest so that I can move forward with my life. As some of you know, I have a new puppy. At 9 months, he is about 87 pounds now and comes up to my waist. He is a mix of something and something, but looks like a hairy lab or maybe a golden retriever? I am convinced that he is a mixture of wolf, flying squirrel, and what ever animal can dig a hole to China from Alaska. He also loves catching bees and other flying creatures like birds, fly's, and attempts to take down every airplane that fly's overhead. This is inconvenient as we live by the airport.

In 1908 a school fire cost the lives of 175
One of my favorite things to do in the morning when I am trying to convivence myself to get on the treadmill is to drink coffee and look up what happened today in history. A lot of things I have no idea ever happened, mostly because the world is very old and I am only a little old, but it is fun to research some of the notables. Today’s stories, in one way or another, change the history of the U.S., fire departments and school safety codes, and it is with this mind that I want to talk about un-known moments in our history:
