Bio
One does not simply become a famous writer! It takes many hours before the sun comes up and even more when the sun sets. I am never sure what world I am living in, the one that I am writing about or reality.

Sideline Cheerleader!
Last year I started running to run for myself. I will not lie to you, my dear friends; my Garmin said that I did a lot more than I did. If I ran 4 miles, it would show 5. And I was comfortable in that lie- it made me feel like I was getting somewhere without putting in the effort. I had a tiny medical thing come up in the scheme of life, but it felt significant. It felt like the world was crashing down on me. And then the doctor said those words that no chubby middle age women should hear- 'you need to slow down and relax.'

Think like an Alaskan
I grew up in California, spent my adult life traveling from one place to another, and then settled in Alaska. In my travels, I have learned a few tricks of the trade of reducing your carbon footprint. Not by non-profits with amazing commercials that leave me crying into my coffee cup. Or the monthly mail call where I am nicely asked to donate to various organizations that are saving whales, pandas, wolves, bears, or the honeybee. Or the organizations requesting a $50.00 tax-deductible donation so that volunteers can clean beaches, mountains, rivers, valleys, and deserts. I love all these organizations! I have gone hungry trying to support all the big-hearted and tireless organizations trying to save this planet.

To the Gemini's of the world!
OVERALL: Your month will be filled with mixed fortunes! It may a really good month. It may be a really bad month. It would be best if you focused on changing yourself. Unless you like yourself- then you should stay true to your path.

The American Eagle- my Nemesis!
The Eagle. Since 1782 it has been the symbol of America and freedom. It is a mean bird. They are a vicious hunter that has taken numerous fish off of my fishing line. There have been two different occasions that their flight toward me has caused me to jump into a freezing river or lake. I can not count how many small dogs or cats have been lost to their long talons of deaths. On one occasion, while running late to a meeting- I came head-on to an Eagle perched upon the roof of my car, and it would not move. Do you know what it is like to call your boss and tell him you're running late because the mean Eagle won't let you leave your driveway?

Morris the Moose
This is my friend Morris. Morris the Moose. I meet him while traveling to a remote lake in the Interior of Alaska. How remote? The directions are coordinates- Latitude: 62.281264, Longitude: -146.556511. Or, if you ask the locals, go 42 miles past Delta Junction and look for a bent tree next to an old mailbox with purple flowers and turn left onto the dirt road. If you drive the border of Canada, turn around- you went too far.

President Lincoln
There is no reason for this story other than I stumbled on a small tidbit of information that I never knew- President Abraham Lincoln is enshrined in the Wrestling Hall of Fame. According to Historians, Abraham Lincoln has only one confirmed loss in nearly 300 wrestling matches. Bill Green, a store owner from New Salem, Illinois, once stated that "[Lincoln] can outrun, outlift, outwrestle and throw day any man in Sangamon Country." This statement came after he proved his worthiness by beating multiple opponents in just one day. Not only was he a fantastic wrestler, but it seems that he was a bit of a trash talker. It recorded that he once cried into a crowd of on-lookers- "I'm the big buck of this lick. If any of you want to try it, come on and whet your horns." President Lincoln now holds an "Outstanding American" honor in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Moll Pitcher
She stood facing the large window overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. She heard the rumbling of the auditorium behind her as people filled in the seats. She watched as the ship in the far horizon slowly slipped away into the sunset. She desperately wanted to be aboard that ship- but she had a job to do here, and she could not just leave. She summed a welcoming smile and turned to face the guest.

Northernmost Southern BBQ
I live in interior Alaska. Interior Alaska is an land all to its own- we do not have the beautiful mountains that waterfalls flow down like lace. We do not have oceans with Orca's and Blue Whales dancing in the distance while singing a merry tune of Marry Poppins. You will rarely see a picture of interior Alaska on a tourist website- unless you are reading a hunting magazine. No, we are the land of teeny-tiny trees and very long winters. It is considered the most inaccessible place on earth because of the unforgiving terrain, yet almost 100,000 of us live within its massive area.

Liquid Courage
Dear You, It is late. The sun is going down, and Pandora plays in the background as I sit here with my glass of merlot, writing you this letter. I think that the red wine is giving me courage. Liquid courage. It is allowing me the freedom to remember.
