🖤 Author's Note: The following is a small collection of short poems in tribute of my best friend of twenty years. You are more patient than you should be with me, and for that I love you so much! Thank you for always putting up with me and all the distance between us without ever making me feel like I've lost my best friend. I miss you and love you so much, My Kay Bear! 🖤
One Brave Kitten ❤ An Introduction
~Author's Note: The following is the first installment in a series of poems -- soon to be a Children's Book, complete with photographs and illustrations -- inspired by my very real cat, Muntjac (Jack). He goes through life with a broken body but a completely whole and beautiful spirit. With a heart full of courage, good cheer, and mischief, he fills our hearts (and hopefully yours) with joy and love and teaches us all (kids and above) a lesson about surviving trials without losing our zest for life.~
Avoid These 3 Major Mistakes that Harm Your Cat
Who doesn't love cuddling up on the couch with their favorite fluffy friend and enjoying the comfort that comes from petting their soft fur and listening to their gentle purr? It's no secret that we can find satisfaction from the company of our pets. In fact, it's proven that as we pet our four-legged friends, we experience a release of the neurochemical called Oxytocin, also known as the "love chemical."
We Are But Mosaics of A Multitude of Moments
I still hold it to be true that we are not the sort of creatures who can be forged in the fires of one mere moment in time. There is no single event, other than death, that can cement within us our soul’s composition, but we are mere mosaics of the many moments of mistakes and happenstances that create the person we are determined to become. Do not mistake this determination, as many do, to be something that is outside of our selves, but understand as I do that the determination is our own, and we do so with the choices that we make.
Flickering of Youth
Man is made of more than a moment in time, and even the simplest and meekest among us are mere mosaics of the multitude of moments. In the same way that a rope is not composed of a single strand but a series of entwined cords, the soul is composed of all the series and solo events that impact us in ways both small and mighty as the twist and entangle themselves within us, forming the person that we ultimately become.
"I Am in Fact a Hobbit (in all but size)"
I lived as much of my life in fantasy as I could when I was growing up. I would lose myself into the worlds created by the likes of J.M Barrie, Rudyard Kipling, and Roald Dahl. Sadly, I was fifteen years old before I discovered what must be the most richly and masterfully created fantasy world ever penned.
The Father of Modern Fantasy
I was perusing the meager book selection at the local Goodwill and feeling frustrated by the abundance of abandoned self-help and cook books when it caught my eye. My fingers flung toward the binding, and I closed my eyes briefly in expectation of the found treasure.
"I Love You, Mom" ~ In Prose Form
Some would say she is crazy, insane, bonkers, plum off her rocker. She would say that she lists a little to starboard. But if you ask those who know and love her best, than you would be well-informed that she’s brilliant, amazing, courageous, and so completely nuts that she will drive you to a madness much like her own. She is my strength, my past, my future, and my truest friend and confidante.
