The Vampire in the Window
A peculiar man crosses the street in the dark. This far out in the country there are no lamp posts for comfort or guidance. No cars cut through the ink with their headlights far this part of the world is quiet sleepers who turn to their pillows early in the afternoon. So, he moves as a shadow under the moonlight, caught only by the distant porch lights of other houses.

The Problem with Manners
I grew up in a household where manners were weaponized as tools of control. If you have spent much time with any children, you will know that for most, proper etiquette does not come naturally. Children are curious and excitable creatures, with bounds of energy I remain jealous of it as an adult. It's normal for kids to accidently get loud about something that strikes fascination. It's normal for them to rush through questions about things without much thought to how they are asking them. It's normal for them to get distracted or simply forget the rules of etiquette. And, the curiosity and energy that spawns this in them is not a bad thing.

What You Can't See
I live with chronic pain, with constant familiar tendrils of things I wish medication or ice could tame. It has marked my days for so long that my memory cannot pull forth one of silence from the cursed sting. And, oh how my heart wishes it could know the gentle touch of feeling nothing.

Spaniel's Weather
We went camping once in the cold of January at Devil's Den Park. Just my husband, myself, and our cocker spaniel, Sage. We had visited previously and were eager for a chance to return before my PTO expired. Camping with a dog can be a hefty endeavor, but it never is with Sage. She is one of the few perfect creatures in the world with a quiet demeanor and obedient heart.
