Riptide; Chapter 2
I lounge in the hammock, gently swaying with the bobbing of the ship. The sailors down here also assigned to patching sails chat and laugh. I'd normally join them, but I'm not really in the mood. I know Admiral Coswik means well, but it doesn't change the fact that I'd been a captain for nearly five years now. Most captains were sailing without admirals within two years. And it wasn't just my 'temper' that was keeping that from happening, as much as all the admirals I had ever been under wanted to cite it. If it wasn't for the war starting before my final review, I'd have the right to sail alone.

Fox Hunt; Chapter 5
It's not hard to get pointed to where we can find David. Apparently, his stint as the town jailer had turned into his full-time job. We're nearing the jailhouse when Priamos's communicator beeps. He pauses, reading whatever has been sent to him.

A Curse to Break; Chapter 5
The next day, he does leave. Daniel and Dimitri leave as well, once again assigned as part of the Mordonian escort. They'd be back in two weeks. So long as the escort arrived back alone, it would mean that it was over. Princess Claudia spends most of the week sulking. I also find myself in a not-so-pleasant mood, although for different reasons. Before Kyler's father and Lord Levine can meet again, Kyler and his father are called away, trouble in the business demanding their attention. Kyler assures me that they'll be back quickly, but when Daniel and Dimitri arrive back before them, I'm starting to doubt it. Considering Lord Levine is curter with me than normal, he thinks I've done something. I do my best to keep my mouth shut and stay out of sight. When I return one night to find Lord Levine and Mother in a good mood, I can't help but feel wary, especially when Mother smiles at me.

Mindless; Chapter 12
I refuse to say anything else to Doctor Airaway when she asks about the Doctor and why I was counting. For the following three days, until I am deemed stable enough to leave the infirmary, when I speak with her, if she brings up either, I stop speaking. It's not that I don't want to talk about it. I'm just not ready to. Not until I've had plenty of time to think it over. I want to sit alone in silence without the buzz of the infirmary and think it through.

A Gift of Ice and Snow; Chapter 2
I stare at my reflection in the mirror. The pale blue dress hugs my figure before waterfalling down from my waist. I had been hesitant about such pale color considering my gray eyes, but it seemed to have just enough color to actually add color to my eyes instead of draining the color away. Considering I had Lydia's help with my makeup and picking out jewelry, I'm not sure why Ma is frowning.
