Connecting With My Inner Child
I started writing and creating art at a young age. In 3rd grade, I wrote my first short story about a bull fight in which the bull wins. In 4th grade, I won a blue ribbon at the county fair for for my first chalk drawing. In 5th grade, I created a six-foot banner depicting a herd of wild horses. And from 6th through 12th grade, I entered multiple poetry competitions and had my poems published in anthologies. I also sewed some of my own clothes, canned fruits and vegetables, and cross-stitched until I went cross-eyed. Writing, art, and crafts played a significant role in my young life, and I believed they always would.

Real Estate 101
I frowned as I stared at the old white house in front of me. It wasn’t as nice as the pictures online, a regular occurrence in my search for a home. I sighed, my sister’s words reverberating in my head. You’ll never find a house at this pace. Get an agent! I enjoyed the lack of pressure in searching for a home on my own, but my sister wasn’t the only one tired of me living in her basement. I needed a place of my own, and soon.

Redemption
I slowly drove down the drive to the mansion I shared with my parents and two brothers, the most dangerous assassins the world had ever known. Or so I was told. The massive estate was assigned to the family in the early days of the war, after we proved our sycophantic loyalty to the New World Order.

The Rabbit Moon
I love astronomy, the beauty and mystery of space. I am mesmerized by the night sky and can stargaze for hours. That love blossomed as a child when I received my first pair of glasses. The optometrist knew I wasn’t looking forward to the new nickname of “four eyes”, so he asked me to find one good thing about wearing glasses. He told me go outside after dark and look up at the night sky, promising I would be amazed. He was right. There were so many twinkling stars, and they were no longer a blur. And the moon was bigger, brighter, and more detailed than I had imagined. I was hooked. It was then that I heard my favorite story, The Rabbit Moon.

Transforming Women's Lives
I received my first calling to help women after my marriage of over twenty years ended. I woke up in the middle of the night with the idea of creating a space for women to connect, learn, and grow. A year later, as I was working on that plan, I received a second, more pressing call after a fluke medical incident that almost took my life and my leg. I survived the emergency surgery, and three days later I received a second miracle when my leg came back to life before the surgeon could amputate. During my long recovery, the calling turned into my purpose, and I knew I wanted to help women overcome the obstacles life threw at them, find the message in life’s messes, and triumph over tragedy, as I had done.
