Hecate's Curse
She walked past the old barn, where her horses were, hearing the old barn owl, not normally a comforting sound, but tonight it meant something different. Her raven hair cascading down her back, blowing in the breeze. The seasons were changing slower than usual, it was late December, and the chill in the air was more spring like than autumn or winter. During the day, the sun had been shining brightly, which had made her heart feel happy. It had been a long while since she had felt good inside. She carried with her a small box, and a small spade. She was heading once again to the crossroads. In times before, she had gone to banish some bad news, gossip, or negative people from her life or from the lives of those she loved. She could still smell the memories of the camphor from such dealings. In those days, she walked with her sister, but this time, she walked alone. It was something you didn't invite companions to; announcing the very thing you wished to banish would never be practical.

Sparkle, Shine from Within to Without
It is often very difficult to authentically shine through, when you feel very different and outside of everything around you. I somehow always manage to still be true to me, and the more open I am, I have found that others find inspiration, healing, and wisdom from the very things I often have felt a need to attempt to hide. Having some social anxiety from years of bullying and being ostracized for thinking differently and having unique limitations that made me stand out any way, never stopped my inner light from shining outward. I really don't mind being unique and different, and although I am still learning that what other's think shouldn't make me feel badly, I delight in being able to inspire others with my creative true self expressions.

Library of Forgotten Souls
It didn't seem like such a spooky place, she thought. She had heard so many tales of ghosts, rising mists, odd shadow figures, mysterious sounds, but as she stood there beside her car at the edge of the lake looking up the hill towards the fog surrounded mansion, it seemed more like a picturesque monument on a postcard than anything she had heard tell of it. She had loved the city, but her new partner wanted her to go take some photos for her portfolio of real estate photography, as well as decide if this place could warm her heart and soul for their planned getaway vacation home together. He had showed her so many houses, but none of them had felt right to her. None felt like a home away from home, or like the perfect little place to replenish and renew inspiration after a busy year of work. She wanted somewhere she could keep her library of books, and he had told her that this place had a beautiful old style library within it, as well as a tea sitting room, and other perfect features including the lake. Her eyes turned to the lake, where the fog had just seemed to begin to roll over as if it was flowing down the hill and skating on the water. She snapped a picture of the beautiful mist and then of the mansion before her. She got back into her car and continued up the drive to the front door.

Cats Are Also Bats
Halloween is always a big deal at our house, and everyone always gets involved, and that means cats, ferrets, dog etc. Everyone gets treats, if they dress up, and that means a costume portrait for a treat, time permitting. It is always a busy time for us too, with celebrations and festivities. And, sometimes entertainment events. I have taken to putting together a fancy table spread of goodies for spooky movie watching snacks and fun. Pets are never left out of the fun no matter what, they get holiday themed toys, treats, and love to watch me prepare for the festivities. They are constant companions and loyal devotees.

Monster Mash
Ever since hearing songs like "Monster Mash," "Thriller," and my childhood Peter Pan 45 Record, "Dinner with Drac," I have loved Halloween, monsters and mayhem. I am certain that my Sister's theater acting, love of monster make-up, horror films, and Vincent Price; as well as, my Uncle's brilliant Halloween decoration displays, also had an impact on me.

Hot Chocolate
Barbie Jean was of a habit of asking her Mama all sorts of questions about her Daddy, every time it was near his birthday, and this time her question brought to mind a special memory. "What made you fall in love with him?," asked Barbie Jean to her Mother. Her Mother could see in her daughter's wide dark chocolate eyes that she just especially needed to know, and wanted to know with all her heart. It was just a day or so past his birthday, and they both were seated by the large kitchen window drinking hot chocolate. "I am not so certain it was any one thing," Barbie Jean's Mother began, "but it had a lot to do with how he treats me, how we get along, our trust in one another, our shared goals, and our similar interests. I will tell you a story about it." Barbie Jean smiled with a grin, that was looking just like her Father's, as her Mother began the story...
