The world is safer now than ever: US senator
World Politics
US Republican Senator Rick Scott posted on social media X about the helicopter crash of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
"When Raisi dies, the world is a safer and better place than ever," Rick said in the post before it was confirmed that Raisi had been killed. That evil man was a tyrant and a terrorist. No one loved or respected him (Raisi). No one will feel his emptiness.
Rick also wrote, "If he dies, I really hope the Iranian people can take their country back from murderous dictators."
Iran had not reported Raisi's death when Senator Rick Scott made the post on Monday. Till then the search for the crashed helicopter was going on. Michael Watz, the Republican chairperson of the House Armed Services Committee of the US House of Representatives, posted another on X around the same time.
According to him, Raisi's death is 'salvation'. In the post, he wrote, Rice has been found to have committed serious human rights violations during and before his presidency.
Ibrahim Raisi went to inaugurate the dam jointly built by the two countries in the border area of Azerbaijan on Sunday. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was also there.
From there, Ibrahim Raisi and other officials accompanying him were returning to Tabriz, the capital of Iran's East Azerbaijan province, with a fleet of three helicopters.
En route, the helicopter carrying the president crashed into a remote mountain near the Zolfa region of East Azerbaijan. The remaining two helicopters reached their destination safely. The crashed helicopter was found this morning by the Iranian Red Crescent after conducting a rescue operation in hostile weather in the mountainous area.
