Free writing with prompts
We did this exercise on the evening of 21st April 2026. To start we were each given three small pieces of paper. We had to write an adjective on one, a verb on the second and a noun on the third and hand them back to our organiser who started to mix them up.

My Personal Recipe
Towards the end of this session we were asked to list what we thought were our personal ingredients be they sweet, savoury or spicy. We each read our own list when "times up" was called. From that list came the prompt to then expand the list of items into an essay. I did this in a free writing mode and then carried out just a few minor edits before the finalised version was shared and laid out below.

The Writing Group 13th April 2026
I belong to a local writing group here in The New Forest in the south of England. There are up to ten of us at any one meeting and we are an eclectic bunch of scribes spanning two if not three generations.
