In a Pickle?. Top Story - July 2026.
The post below has, of this writing, 23.9 thousand views. Amazingly; no one dinged me for typing 'Nit' instead of 'Not'. That is a small thing to be thankful for, but I'll take it, especially as most of the comments questioned my sanity, my cooking, and my birthplace.

The Stewart Paradox
"I always try to be sincere. That I actually do put effort into the madness. That I want to connect with people and every time someone says "that resonates" or "howthefuckdidyoucomeupwiththat," it makes me feel a bit warm. I dunno...yeah. That I care. " — Paul Stewart, Center Stage with Paul Stewart: A Creators in the Limelight Series, Heather Hubler (2023)

Hybrid vs. Self-Publishing
Anyone who has ever looked into the hybrid publishing industry knows it's expensive and full of shady companies that look to take your money for very little value in return. Yet, unless you're lucky enough to land an agent, your only other choice is to self-publish, which can be just as prohibitively expensive, if not more so. Which route you take is largely reliant on your time and budget. This article is about my own personal experience with both areas, the pros and cons, and what I ultimately chose. Full disclosure, there is also a small sales pitch at the end!

The Attraction
So, how do we get more new users to engage with the Vocal page? This was the one conundrum I have thought about the most, long before it was posted as a particular question on the page. We have a unique environment here that allows us to discuss multiple subjects without many obstacles (just get the word limit right). I am working on one of her other Challenges as I type this, and I have a Vocal Challenge in mind that will all come together, at least by the deadline later next week. As I thought about this over the years, I came up with certain ideas - good and bad - that could help. But the question is very specific: new users to our page.

Projects
How many out there of heard of those sites that 'sell' college notes or even from high school and even middle school/elementary notes from courses that they have taken. What would readers think if I were to write chapter outlines from textbooks in the various fields I have studied and published them here on Vocal. The textbook and author will be mentioned. The main purpose of these outlines will be mainly just to give general introductions to the subjects for I know things change but the basics do stay the same. I still have my old textbooks from many of my years of schooling from elementary through graduate school. Chapter outlines will be from textbooks dealing with education to counseling/human services to nursing. Please let me know in the comments what you think.
