I Miss the Days Before AI Generated Comments
There was a time — I’m talking about six months ago — when a writer would post a piece of fiction online, a deeply vulnerable story about their childhood or a dying spaceship or whatever, and the comments section would roll in like a county fair.

Golden Lights and Starlit Nights
At 2 a.m., the world feels like it has finally gone quiet. Walking outside beneath the soft glow of the streetlights, there’s something almost magical about the stillness. The road is empty, the trees barely move, and the warm lights spill gently across the pavement like little pools of gold. Above, the night sky stretches endlessly, scattered with more stars than you can count.

Fighting My Inner Battle . Top Story - August 2026.
I’ve always had an idea of the person I want to become. When I try to picture myself, I see someone who is confident, kind, encouraging, and comfortable with who she is. I try to make people feel heard and cared for. In this imagination, I also see myself interacting with kids and animals because they bring a relaxed energy, especially toddlers and babies.

Figuring It Out
Author’s Note: These prompts are my attempt at working on writing fiction. I may not always follow the cards exactly, but I am working on writing fiction. Fight The Giant - Cards against normality prompt: Talk it out - if your hero and the antagonist had an honest discussion, what would they say to each other? List three locations or situations in which your hero and your adversary could talk at length. Imagine a conversation between your hero and his younger self. What advice would he give? Brainstorm three characters your hero could confide in.

Getting Oriented
I drove to Hickory this morning, up the backroads and 321, into the mountains to my new campus for orientation. Beautiful drive through the North Carolina countryside—Dallas, High Shoals, Lincolnton, Maiden, and Newton are the towns I pass through, even go right past Lineberger’s (stopped on the way home for some tomatoes, scored some figs, too). I live in the foothills, in the shadow of Spencer Mountain, so I’m climbing enroute, coasting home. I even found a gas station (well, more of a truck stop) with gas around fifty cents lower per gallon than I’m currently paying near home and an old general store/gas station with the old pumps, the ones that don’t read cards.

Paul's Explicate My Poem Unofficial Challenge
So, it's been a few months since John and I ran an unofficial challenge. This time out I am doing one myself and don't worry, it's for some dumb soap opera reasons. John and I haven't fallen out because his best friend is my best friend's mother's girlfriend.
