Changing one thing about family
Denise: I would have liked my parents to live longer. My dad died when I was ten years old and my mother died when I was fifty-five. Then my grandmothers died too early. One before I was born and the other when I was seven years old.
John: The feud between my sons. That pits family against family. The trouble caused by not being able to all spend time together as a family.
Purchase from an ad
Denise: I bought from Natural Science for a skin care line. I discontinued the subscription after the first trial package.
John: I bought my car from an ad. It looked like a great deal. I was thinking about it more for you than me. We looked, you didn’t want it because it didn’t have all the bells and whistles you would prefer, so I bought it. I hope to drive it the rest of my driving years.
Talking Hearts couple’s edition cards prompts:
What do you actively do for me that I might not notice?
If we could live anywhere for a year, where would it be?

You doing for me that I might not notice
Denise: Laundry, buying your gifts, clothes. Order parts, assist with your phone and the computer. And remind you of upcoming family events, and when I will be out of town.
John: All of the mechanical stuff. Then there is how I wait on you hand and foot all the time!
Living anywhere for a year
Denise: In a camper, while driving around the country. We talked about doing it, several times. I'm trying to get you away from Minnesota for one month in the winter and that isn't working.
John: I would like to live in Berlin again or live out in the boonies.
Denise: I think we are pretty close to being in the boonies now. Berlin Germany, you mean where you were stationed while in the service?
John: Yes. I would like to take a trip back there.
Talking Hearts couple’s edition cards prompts:
What are the main things you look for in a partner?
How did you learn how to drive?

Partner qualifications
Denise: A must is to be in recovery, as I love alcoholics. Three husbands, all alcoholics. Last two in recovery. One relapsed into his addiction. I know I can't live with active addiction. Kind and loving. Must love me, and my family. At least those that I love. Must have a good sense of humor or atleast understand Native American humor.
John: You have to be pretty. And easy to talk to. I seem to pick women with monkeyitis though.
Denise: You are the one with monkeyitis and I’m not sure how this fits here? Are you saying that you purposely were looking for someone who has monkeyitis like you? Am I still pretty?
John: Yes, you are! Just a little bit wrinkly!
Denise noted: We both laughed as I had just pointed out my many wrinkles at the breakfast table yesterday.
How did you learn to drive
Denise: My mother taught me to drive when I was eleven or twelve years old. She taught me and all of my siblings, and she taught cousins, and other family members. When I was fifteen, I took the required drivers education class even though I had been driving for four years already.
I have been driving for 61 years now.
John: My dad taught me at about age nine or ten. It was with a straight stick on the column. I think that had started to change, but even in drivers education it was a straight stick. My main mode of transportation was motorcycle though from a teen to now, whenever possible. That is what I prefer.
I have always ridden a shift bike, until now with this Ryker as it is automatic shift. The same holds true with my more recent 4-wheelers as they are automatic too. I have one shift 4-wheeler.
