When Was the First Time I Was Published?
As I write this on June 29th, I’m very aware of an upcoming “writing anniversary” of mine. The first time I was published. So, when was that? How long ago? Of course, I know the answers. But as I asked myself these questions, I started thinking about all the other writing anniversaries and how long ago they were. Not everything is documented perfectly in my mind, but I’d say I got a decent calendar-view of it all. So, it’ll be fun to review the timeline.

What Makes Bhutan Different From Every Other Destination I've Visited. AI-Generated.
Some destinations impress you with famous landmarks, while others leave a lasting impression through their culture and people. Bhutan belongs to the second category. Nestled in the eastern Himalayas, this small kingdom offers an experience that feels increasingly rare in today's fast-paced world.

Ecarg Evison the Prized Poet
After Ecarg Nosive’s spirit left this world, she was still immediately misunderstood, and it started with something as simple as her name. She posted her written heart and trauma under the title “Ecarg Nosive”, to which many did not know, was her given name backwards. Her true name was Grace Evison, and in her real life, that’s what she was called. She created a switched persona because on the outside, she never fully portrayed what her soul left on paper. Ecarg had so much depth, and while Grace was also an open book, she was not one many took the time to read and/or comprehend fully. Ecarg’s poetry was dimensional, her stories had thrill, and her insight on humanity and its struggles were blunt in nature. She admirably did not stray from honesty, especially when it hurt to hear. Her poetry was filled with vulnerability, captured in many near rhymes that came naturally to her.

After Violet
There is a peculiar irony surrounding the life of Violet Hamilton. During her lifetime, she spent years convincing publishers, producers, educators, and readers that stories possessed the power to change people. Only after her death did the world begin to understand that she had been writing the story of her own life all along.

Why Are We Here? (On Vocal)
Introduction If, like me. you have been here a few years, you were probably drawn by the huge Vocal Challenge prizes. I soon learned that was as likely as a lottery win for me. Many of my friends have won and placed so they have been properly rewarded.

The People's Economist
When historians and literary critics examined Dr. Anthony Chan’s writings after his death, they encountered a body of work that was difficult to categorize. Was he an economist who happened to write exceptionally well? A teacher disguised as a market strategist? A public intellectual who moved comfortably among academic research, financial markets, and storytelling? Or was he something far rarer—a translator who spent an entire lifetime converting the intimidating language of economics into conversations ordinary people could understand?

Legacy Of a Reader, Not a Writer
Lana Lynx, a moderately successful Vocal writer (14 challenge placements), has become famous for reading. Posthumously. Last Tuesday, determined to spread her love by reading every Vocal story she encounters, Lana ventured into the dense forest of under-loved stories with no "hearts" and never came back.

Late June 2026: 10 Goals Accomplished
It's just about halfway through the year, and I've accomplished another one of my writing goals. That makes 10, and out of my total of 22, I'm almost halfway through in that respect as well. Although, that doesn't mean I'll be continuing at the rate that I was going at. No matter, the accomplishment itself is what's important, and I completed another one!

RIP Me
Chloe Rose: Loving Mother, Friend, and Writer. The Official Notice from the office of Unfiltered Chloe: Contrary to recent rumors (which I have apparently started), I have not died. I've simply been missing from Vocal long enough to warrant an obituary.

Root and Ash:
The Flowering Bloom: Prelude: The Dying Hour Falls Upon Us All The day I died, trash trucks still rattled and banged their way down my street, keeping to their loud, impatient schedule. My obituary was posted online before six that same evening, as though it had been already written—and it was a small feat, for I had never been so early for anything in my entire life.
