My Interest is Piqued #3

A Vocal + Assist Facebook Feature

By Rick Henry Christopher Published 3 years ago β€’ 4 min read

"My Interest is Piqued" is a feature I started in early 2023 on the Facebook group Vocal + Assist. I did it for a few months then lost interest. However, the feature was very popular and I decided it was worth another go round.

In this new edition of "My Interest is Piqued" I strive on bringing attention to ten deserving Vocal Creators each week. I will include bits of information and sometimes humor here and there. I plan on having fun with this while I feature stories of some of Vocal Media's most brilliant writers.

Daphne Sampson (aka DaphSam)

What I love most about Daphne's writing is her sincerity. Daphne is so in tune with her own person. She writes about hope, about her own strengths and weaknesses. Life for Daphne has been a journey and she's conquered those hurdles to end up in a place of victory and strength. I am always inspired by Daphne's writing. She always keeps it real.

Georgie Lucy (aka Sh*t Happens - Lost Girl Travel)

Georgie mostly writes about her world travels. She does a professional job while adding much of her own personal experiences and reflections to her stories. I love the detail in which she describes everything. She makes it all come alive for her readers. Sorry to hear you had Covid but glad you are now over it.

Novlet Allen (aka Novel Allen)

Novel is an intense writer who gets to the raw emotions of what she's writing. She makes you feel what she's feeling!

Novel has this philosophy that everyday is a fresh day. She is a compassionate person who likes to see the positive side of things. In her poem β€œI Will Rise Again,” Novel writes, β€œI shall soar like the eagle. And live for ever more. Free from the cares and restrictions. Of a life numbered in such fleeting years.”

Gerald Holmes

Gerald is one of my longtime favorites. He is a storyteller's storyteller. He knows how to put together a story that keeps his readers involved from start to finish.

The first story I read by Gerald Holmes, β€œGolden Girl,” was so tender and heartwarming that it brought tears to me. From there I knew Gerald would become one of my favorite Vocal Creators. Gerald's writing is always professional while maintaining that ever important heart and soul.

Donna Renee

Donna Renee is one of the kindest people I know on the internet. She's also intelligent, humorous, and creative and can write a story that really resonates with her readers.

Donna says her hobbies include making coffee and drinking coffee. I'm guessing she might be a regular at some of her local coffee houses. Interestingly Donna visited Reykjavik, Iceland in 2016. Makes me want to listen to my Bjork playlist.

Randy Baker

Randy is a fan of creating community and uplifting other writers. He's new to the Vocal community having joined in January 2024 but he is already making a splash and gaining friends quickly. Randy is a methodical writer in that he lays it all out carefully with thorough research. He pays close attention to detail and writes in a precise manner to achieve his desired outcome.

πŸ€ͺ😜πŸ€ͺ😜πŸ€ͺ😜πŸ€ͺ😜

Darnell Lee (aka D. D. Lee)

Darnell, a reserved but highly esteemed member of the Vocal community, may not be the most vocal, but his presence is widely recognized. When he publishes a piece, it consistently resonates with impact and quality, captivating the imagination and emotions of his readers. Additionally, Darnell holds the distinguished title of the longest-standing admin in the Vocal + Assist Facebook group, executing his admin responsibilities with a commendable mix of care, creativity, and thoroughness.

Tony Stauffer (aka Anthony Stauffer)

Tony embodies an unwavering support for his fellow Vocal creators. He and I share a passion for Pink Floyd, particularly their late 60s and early 70s repertoire. In his writing, Tony displays meticulous care and thoughtfulness, coupled with a genuine humility that respects the creative contributions of others. His inspirations include Stephen King and JRR Tolkien. While Tony's writing tends towards the dark and mysterious twists one would find in a King story, there are certainly elements of fantasy that can be attributed to his love of all things Middle Earth. When I first read "The Cat Lady" I was so impressed and quickly latched on to Tony's writing.

πŸ€ͺ😜πŸ€ͺ😜πŸ€ͺ😜πŸ€ͺ😜

Sara Katlin Fox (aka Sara Fox)

Sara writes from her heart and offers up intricate pieces of emotion and hope. Sara takes her art seriously and carefully crafts her poems and stories. Sara does poetry readings and attends poetry events regularly. She has creatively developed her own brand with stickers that contain words from her poems. She also has a background in music and enjoys sharing that love with others. But most importantly Sara always puts love and humor at the top of her life priorities.

Rachel Robbins

Rachel calls herself a film geek and has a strong love for classic films from the 1940s to the 1960s. Her love for Audrey Hepburn is more than obvious. Rachel is also a stand-up comedian and performs live regularly. She participates in several comedy workshops to keep her skills sharp. Rachel describes herself as a joyous flawed mess.
