My Interest is Piqued

"My Interest is Piqued" is a feature I started in 2023 on the Facebook group Vocal + Assist. I did it for a few months then lost interest. However, the feature was very popular and decided it was worth another go round.

In this new iteration of "My Interest is Piqued" I will be writing it in the style of a gossip column, so it will indeed include bits of humor here and there. I plan on having fun with this while I feature stories of some of Vocal Media's most brilliant writers.

Alexandria Stanwyck's inner child is screaming again and that is a good thing. She is back to writing and she's loving it. Of course we are the ones that benefit. In the past year she has published 112 marvelous stories, poems, and other writings for our reading pleasure.

Everyone!!! Meet Marion Brossard!!! Who? Aaahhh, I see she goes by the name of Emmy B on Vocal.

She's recently made a comeback after beeing gone for about two years. In total she has 17 published works on vocal with ten of those being published in the past two months. This comeback has proved to be fruitful for Emmy 'er Marion as she recently scored her first Top Story with her story "Adeventures Beyond."

L.C. Schäfer and I go way back... okay, maybe a few months back!!! But let me tell L.C. is one cray-zay cat. Her goal for 2024 is to publish a new story everyday of the year. Now, tell me that's not nuts!!!

But wait now folks!!! It looks like L.C. is accomplishing her goal. So far she has published something everyday this year... and even better her work is quality work... she's not just slopping anything out there to say she's doing it. She's putting some thought into it and presenting her readers with some great work!!!

* Inspirational Story of the Day *

Daphne Sampson (aka DaphSam on Vocal) always had a dream of writing but never thought she'd be able to due to being Dyslexic. It was a struggle for her which she overcame the fears and learned to read and write.

Did she ever learn to write. Daphne is one of Vocal's most prolific writers right now having published 127 pieces in the past two months. That is an exciting accomplishment!!! Bravo Daphne!!! 👏🏼🤩

With a recent story Daphne tried her hand at horror, and let's just say she hit the ball out the park with this one!!!

I don't know why I think of that corny 70s song "Love Will Keep Us Together" when I see the names Mx Stevie Stephen Cole and Sandra Tena Cole.

Ugh... uh... I can't believe I put you through that song... but you must admit it is pretty catchy!!! And it's fitting for this super-couple. Sandra calls Stephen their huswife and Stephen goes by the title of Mx. Mx is a gender neutral title similar to titles such as Mr. or Mrs. We love you Stephen and Sandra!!!

Kelli Sheckler-Amsden is quite amazing she just keeps on going… and going… and going!!! But always with quality work!!! To date she has published 1,357 pieces to vocal and does an average of 3 to 4 pieces a day.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite from her because she has so many works out there but her recent poem "Unseen" is one of her best:

Maureen Yukiko Palmer is an avid reader and recently caught my interest with her review of her favorite books that she read in 2023. If I'm to be honest her review on the book "Toasty" really piqued my interest and now I must get a copy and read it...

I always get excited when I see a new post by Andra Forbes. She always publishes some of the most interesting informational nuggets of knowledge. It's amazing the range of topics Andra touches on. I never get bored of reading her well researched and aptly written works.

Her recent quiz was a fun exercise. I got all the answers wrong - but I still enjoyed it and learned a thing or two.

Grz Colm gives us an interesting mix of film and TV reviews and short stories but it is his philosophical free verse poems that get the people reading and commenting. Grz has a knack for writing moving pieces that touches his readers. At least once a week Grz Colm's clever and creative writing is a mandatory read for me!!!
