The City Without a Sidewalk Sizzle
Saturday, 10 p.m. on Dingxi Road. The pavement is clean. Three shared bikes lie tipped over against a flower bed. Under the streetlight, an old woman sits by an ATM booth, selling gardenias wrapped in old newspaper, five yuan a bunch. She doesn't call out. In half an hour, no one stops.

So, you're in the City of Brotherly Love for just one day. (Philadelphia, that is.) (Philly, to the familiars.) Well, take it from a local - you don't want to waste time trying to figure out where to go once you're already there. Things move pretty fast in Philly, and if you're stuck standing in someone's way, or going too slow across a crosswalk, or just bumbling around trying to get yourself oriented, you'll quickly learn how my city earned it's nickname - the city of brotherly 'shove.'

Chasing Rainbows
If you’re forced, and how utterly terrible must it be if you’re forced to take only a 24 hour vacation, the only choice is to chase rainbows in Dublin, that lynchpin of the Emerald Isle with some of the cheapest flights from Chicago to Europe. As it’s been sung, you can go around the world, from Antarctica to Katmandu, and find an Irish pub—a place you’ll be welcomed with a kind smile and a cold pint. If you’re lucky, you might even get some fiddle, and if you’re really lucky they’ll be some black pudding (okay that one is personal taste).

Twenty-Four Hours in San Antonio
There are cities a man can enter and leave without carrying much of them away, cities whose streets, buildings, restaurants, and monuments become no more than names attached to an old journey, and then there are cities that remain long after the road has carried you somewhere else, cities that return to you in odd moments when you are far away, when you remember the turn of a street or the sound of water beneath a bridge or the way evening came down upon a certain place. San Antonio is that kind of city for me. Give me twenty-four hours there and I know where I would go, where I would eat, where I would walk when the heat of the day began to loosen, and where I would want to be when the last light had gone from the sky.
