Ghana for many seems to be on the travelers bucket list, the country has some beautiful coastline and beaches. For many staying within the country for longer notice the racism and xenophobia, especially in housing and employment. Most is towards other Black Africans. Yet many Asian and Lebanese are victims and this leads them to stay away from Ghanians.

Colorism and racism is high in Africa and unaddressed by government and police laws. In Ghana police and immigration target lighter skinned people, even I have been stopped at more than 10 times in my first year even when in a Bolt or Uber. (they let you go once they realize it is a taxi)

Ghanians have refused to see a lighter skin Black American as a Black person some for hatred others for lack of education. This author heard and received some of the most hateful and racists words ever, yet has seen white people walk around unbothered.

White people in Ghana usually don't live, associate or go to places in which a Black American whom isn't wealthy will live.

Being in a relationship with a Black Ghanian that doesn't have money either will get you a tour of the most common, cheaper places to eat and hangout. There is where some of the most racists experiences come from, even in wealthy areas Ghanians shared their hatful, racist comments.

Black Americans living in Ghana are mostly brown to darker skinned, or they ignore the racism a lot happens in Ghana. Ghanians ignore a lot because it is what needs to be done to remain sane, this is needed for the street children which is heartbreaking to see.

NOTE: Many refuse to call all the discrimination and hatred I've gotten racism because I'm Black. The Ghanians and some Kenyans when living in Kenya THINK I'm a white person, so therefore since they think I'm white it is racism. If they know I am light skin then that is colorism, however isn't colorism when they treat a lighter skinned person BETTER not worse?

A country that constantly reminds themselves and everyone else that they're a Christian nation, not really. There are about 30% of the population that identify as Muslim. Christian countries should not have to remind themselves that they're Christians, if they behaved that way it would clearly show.

Many white people find their way to Ghana calling themselves evangelists in a country that is 70% Christian there is no real need for this type of pilgrimage. White westerners fund the hate-filled Anti-Gay bill and pour millions of dollars in African countries wanting to enact such hateful bills like Uganda's 'Kill The Gays Bill'.

It takes a special person to want to live in countries like Ghana that practice corrective rape on lesbians. Many advocate for killing and stoning to death gay people, even without proof that they're gay. All it takes is being accused of being gay.

In a racist, colorist country this is a dangerous idea, as tribalism and xenophobia is very strong. This new bill in Ghana is outlined here.

Here are a series of stories on racism in Africa and mostly Ghana:

Not only are there screenshots of Ghanaians comments, which were part of over 10,000 replies to a Lebanese man saying he's told 5-10 daily to go back to his own country. Ghanians said this behavior was alright because they claim Lebanese and Chinese mistreat Ghanians.

According to many Ghanians it is perfectly fine to be a racist towards a race of people if they're unkind to you. This is not only a thought process in Ghana but many African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Malawi and many more.

African governments aren't doing enough to make laws like those in western countries that are meant to not only curb racism & xenophobia but to protect people. There are no laws or rules to protect foreigners whom look different in these countries.

Even as a non-mixed race Black American there are 3 people who have said they've been constantly identified as white people in African countries. This author being one of them, African countries have much to offer but being unable to live freely and safe because of skin color ruins daily life.

Not being wealthy and not wanting to live and hangout in fake tourist places will cost your mental health and safety. People constantly pointing, shouting at you in the streets ruins your peace.
