Bruny Island Adventure. Honorable Mention in Twenty-Four Hours Challenge.
Bruny Island is one of those little gems that you only know about if you go looking for it. To get here, you fly into Hobart Airport, probably via Sydney or Brisbane if you're not coming from the Mainland (or North Island, as the locals call it). The next step is to hire a car, drive about an hour to the Bruny Island Ferry, and spend about 20-30 minutes on said Ferry.

Some places you visit, some you love, and some feel like home. For me, Honolulu is one of those rare places. If I had just twenty-four hours to create the perfect day in paradise, I would not waste a minute. I would want to experience Honolulu as I know it best, not as a tourist rushing from one attraction to another, but as someone who understands that Hawaii's magic is often found in the little moments between the big ones.

The Horseshoe Bay That Taught Me How to Slow Down
The harbour wakes before anyone else does. Fishing boats slip out while the village is still dark, and by the time I make it down to the water the light has already turned that particular shade of early gold this coast seems to specialise in. Agios Stefanos sits in a horseshoe bay on the northeast corner of the island, close enough to Albania that on a clear morning you can pick out the ridgeline of the mountains across the water.

Twenty-Four Hours in Rocky Mountain National Park
At 5:10 a.m., Rocky Mountain National Park belongs to the elk, the marmots, and the people willing to leave a warm bed before dawn. The gates at the eastern side of the park open a landscape that changes by the mile, climbing from ponderosa pine forests toward the high country where the Continental Divide cuts across the horizon. For one perfect day, I would begin in Estes Park, with a full tank of gas, a thermos of coffee, and enough time to let the mountains set the schedule.
